I'm not sure if this was asked already, but is there or will there be podcast/audiobook support for this DAP? Or at least an app that can support both?

they have licence isus
Doesn't appear to be. For audiobook/podcast support you are better off with a full android device to install 3rd party support.

The lack of basic resume/bookmarking and or podcast audiobook has become a bit of a recurring question/request on headfi (I get that it's a niche in a niche) and just frustrating that most of the remaining mp3 player manufacturers seem intent on ignoring it. One of the last mp3 players that seemed to have it natively was the ageing sony a15 range. Anything after that seems to have forgotten to include the option at least. Still saves me money in the long run. If it doesn't have the option I don't buy it. The company that brings out a player with the one app that does both will get my interest.

for audiobook, we had tried to contact the them and they told us they can't supports DAP based on Linux and Android DAP which google version is too low. to be honesty every DAP brands are thinking everyday to make some new features so they can win the market, do you think we are refuse to sell more ? or we just don't know quite some people are asking again and again hope we can add this features.

James has said that it takes a week to fully test an app. I'm not going to count the number of requests for a certain app, but it ust be at least a dozen different requests. That would mean that it would tie up a FiiO engineer for 3+ months to test all requests. Of course, each person requesting an app thinks they are the only person who is important, but there are a lot of people in that boat. A company cannot afford to put a lot of resources into requests that benefit only 1 or a few individuals.

It is just a simple logic, if we can make M6 supports more APP, which means we can sell more, why we will refuse to do that ? this is a software issues and will not make any change in the hardware. I think we had talked this issues enough and we will try to make M6 supports more APP, but plz trust us it is not a simple issues and we are not going to face so many complained about the APPs if we add it in the whitelist without test.

James, I think you either misread my post or I misread yours. I was trying to support your position that it is not reasonable to spend time testing every app that someone might want. You would endlessly be testing for one device and never have time to work on more important products or issues.

How about someone make a poll of some popular apps people would like to be whitelisted and see if that kind of shortens the list to a couple at least?

We just need a software update with UI changes that'd support mp3 format podcasts and audiobooks. It needs to have:
-save last position
-x1 / x1.10 / x1.25 / x1.5 playback speeds
-forward and backward by 15 or 30 seconds button

I hope this is possible

Almost got Hiby R3, and came across this M6, it has same features except balanced out.
All I need was a gear with bluetooth, so I can turn my existing headphones
to bluetooth capable, and now I am landing on a DAP with 2-way bluetooth that can do all protocols.
FiiO is filling the market with so many products that can do things that people needs in reasonable price.
Good jobs.

sorry what do you mean ?

He means that you should say that to people who think otherwise. But superuser doesn’t understand this:

Are you saying there is not one other app that the M6 or M9 can run? Sorry James I really don't get it. I believe it's true mainly, the facts you present about the lack of power in the chip and the small amount of RAM make that clear. But any other App?
What is my particular issue? You know the issue of casting to my HiFi means a lot to me and there is an app I run on my Mobile Phone called HiFy that links with and enables me to use Spotify on my M9, and probably on my soon to arrive M6, to control my Arcam AirDac streamer. It shows on Spotify, on the M9, as an Airplay receiver and as a DNLA receiver. It is wonderful controlling my HiFi through Spotify. Your little M9 does it beautifully. But I cannot do the same with the FiiO app. Arggghh. I still love your product. I have ordered the M6 too. So I am a real supporter of yours. I choose many FiiO products. But clarity of communication and satisfaction of the communication are so important to me. Sorry James I have no wish to keep bothering or be a nuisance to you but right now I can use Spotify to control my Arcam AirDac Streamer, but not the FiiO app which cannot in any way recognise my Arcam streamer, and thus I cannot play my own music library to my HiFi. Can you see my problem? If it will in no way ever be possible for my M6/M9, either through an app or even the FiiO music app, to act as a controller over WiFi, and recognise my Arcam AirDac let me know definitively and I will stop bothering you. I would like a resolution to my issue. Why can I stream Spotify to my AirDac from the M9/M6 but not stream my own music library either through the FiiO app or a different app? How come Spotify is capable but not the FiiO app?
I love your M9/M6 whatever the answer is and recommend it to everyone. Just need my issue resolved.
Steve
