Thanks. Which do you think is better when it comes to note weight and definition? In my opinion they are both on a similar, very high level when it comes to microdetails. Soundstage wise Kann Ultra is better.

Which sounded more analog and natural?Kann Ultra.
I totally agree with you. M23 for me substantially improves when on desktop mode and powered properly (30w).. Sounds more open, dynamic, better texture, and wider soundstage.M23 sounds absolutely great as a standalone dac. I noticed yesterday.
I bought Eversolo DMP-A6 and almost returned it because of thin, harsh and shouty sound. Not musical at all.
I listened M23 before Eversolo.
I used balanced line output (and desktop-mode on M23).
On both devices.
I thought that i sell M23 and use Eversolo from now on.
Difference in sound was pretty big in my ears though. First experience with Eversolo's soundquality was pretty big dissapointment.
M23 was much better; smooth, full bodied sound with musicality. Very enjoyable and easy to listen.
Eversolo was "angry", shouty, and thin.
Bass was like a wooden stick "snap".
Sibilance was almost stabbing.
But Eversolo's user interface is 10+ so i thought that i keep it and buy external dac. Streaming works like a charm.
Then i realized that M23 has AKM and "DAC only"-mode.
Why not to test it.
And there it was; smooth, full bodied, easy, and musical sound.
Plus now i have portable device also, if i someday will need it.
Very happy with the set up.
M23 by itself is a very good sounding device. By any standard. In my opinion.
Especially when used at "desktop-mode".
This is why I'm on desktop mode all the time when at home. Only if I'm on the move/traveling it's not plugged in the wall. The sound is full and detailed to my ears and the M23 gives more than enough juice for the HD660s in the desktop mode.I totally agree with you. I actually prefer this (under desktop mode) to the AK SE300. To me there really is a nice balance between technicality and musicality. This is why I'm on desktop mode all the time when at home. Hi guys, what is your experience with PEQ? I am mostly interested in using it with third party apps like Tidal, Spotify, SoundCloud. No issues? I've had Fiio Q15 and I had to sell it due to constant issues with EQ.
Dear friend,Hi all, I'm curious about this too. I'm considering picking up an M23 but my wife's M15S has issues with PEQ. When it's turned on, sometimes there's no output from the DAP. Disabling PEQ brings back output.
A reboot fixes this sometimes, toggling it on and off fixes it too, but it's not consistent in its behaviour as neither fixes it consistently. It's on the latest firmware (happened with previous firmware too) and I've also factory reset it.

@FiiO I'm just playing FLAC files, no DSD. It does sometime work, so it's not a DSD/PEQ issue.Dear friend,
Are you playing DSD when having this problem? DSD does not support EQ.
If not, you could go to M15S->Technical support->Online feedback to submit the problem and the log. The engineer will check about that. Thank you.
Best regards
