I love my M23, but can you add to FiiO Music the ability to sort Artist and Album Artist using the metadata for sorting? So that would let me sort by last name, not by first name, which is all in the sorting field of the AIF file. (I posted this request on the FiiO forum, too.)

Hi guys, what is your experience with PEQ? I am mostly interested in using it with third party apps like Tidal, Spotify, SoundCloud. No issues? I've had Fiio Q15 and I had to sell it due to constant issues with EQ.

@Plej, I have never noticed any discussion regarding this, but I have an issue where all of a sudden distortions appear. Almost like if the gain would not be set correctly. (With Apple Music). Only restarting the device cures it, but the issue reappears. Not sure if it's just my device though.

Thanks for the review. Very good read, and sums up my thoughts pretty much. The desktop mode is great and that was one of reasons I chose this player over the competitors. I think it can give a very long life to the player without changing the battery.

Can anyone share a comparison between the M23 and AK Kann Ultra/Alpha?

@timbre1822 I've owned Ultra and I tried m23. Depending on what you listen to you might like M23 or Kann Ultra better. Ultra has wider and deeper stage, deeper bass (imo Kann Ultra has one of the best bass in business) and somehow recessed vocals. Ultra was much better for me in electronic music while M23 felt more universal, pushing vocals a bit more forward in comparison.

Well, if you own IEMs/headphones that have big bass, and you are a fan of neutral signature than I guess M23 would satisfy you better. I also think that you might like female vocals better coming from M23.

In terms of overall technicalities, does the Ultra significantly edge out the M23?

In my opinion they are both on a similar, very high level when it comes to microdetails. Soundstage wise Kann Ultra is better.
