I wondered whether anyone has compared the M17 to the Ifi micros idsd signature or diablo? I have the sig and use an Ifi Zen stream and I’m curious as to whether the M17 can beat it for sq as well as form factor (one piece of equipment rather than two)?

It's been a long time since I reviewed the Diablo and if I remember correctly, the M17 is more organic and natural sounding than the more technical Diablo.
I wouldn't go that far as to suggest that the one beats the other but the M17 is just slightly more musical sounding.

You misunderstand. It's the updater itself that fails. Full battery. Bare system. Only diff is I installed UAPP. Starting from 1.0.3 too.

I got mine few days ago & I'm quite happy with it. Heavy and powerful for sure.

I have question for you Fiio experts out there: when M17 is DC-powered, is there a sleep mode? Lights on the side & around volume knob are still on even after a long time. I don't want to to turn it off each time I stop using it. Thanks!

Listening to a new mix I recorded. My mixer allows a bit of grace when it comes to levels, so I recorded a little hotter than I normally do and it seems to have really come alive. Listening to the flac on my M17 and I'm in heaven. Even though I'm kinda looking for another one (smaller for IEMs on the go), but hot DAMN I do love this cinder block of a music player.

No, I mean trying to apply FW 1.0.4 always fails with the installer crashing; I have 1.0.3 installed now. It fails regardless of whether I use your online installer, or try to install it from the local image i downloaded from your site. I'll reedit this post from the M17 and add some screen captures. I have around 40 Gigs free on both the internal and external SDs.

As Ben86 recommended I'll try a factory reset and try the FW update again.

Update:

I cleared the data and cache of the update app. Then tried the firmware update for the 4th or more time...

Downloading...

Downloaded and ready to be installed. I clicked install...

BOOM. It crashes immediately every time.

This is how the Update app looks . Nothing to see here as far as I can tell...

You have any ideas? Could there be an annoying Android security setting that needs to be applied? Any idea what ?

I said I was going to try a system reset as someone suggested. But I think now I'd really like to avoid that. Hope you can assist here.

I have a BTR5 and a Q5s, you would think i'd use those with IEMs...but FiiO's DAPs are too good when you get used to them, ends up monopolizing my listening sessions even on the go!
