Just wanted to write my experiences with M15 for the past few day. I am not going to blabber about the sound quality, other than saying it is pretty decent, very detailed and powerful. Here are they:

+ The best software experience I have ever had. It is fast, startup is fast, responsive. The whole arrangement of options and settings are just perfect! There is even an extra button to assign the funtionality you want, genius! The Android settings are cleaned up properly and you really see the things you need, not some unusable garbage. Everything is very well thought out. This is probably also the case for the M11. Well done, FiiO!

+ Despite the lack of Google Play, I didn't have to manually load any APKs, Qobuz application (together with several others) was just there to be downloaded with a simple touch and FiiO's own workaround works perfectly fine upgrading to a newer version. If that is not enough, APKPure is also preloaded. Thankfully, FiiO did their best to compensate the lack of Google Play - unlike A&K.

+ Again an indication of how well the whole software experience is thought out: FiiO Link! That was just awesome. While going yesterday, I installed the FiiO link software on my mobile phone, configured the M15 as a FiiO link server, and the application on my mobile as client, paired them over BT and I was able to navigate and control the music player from my mobile phone. I always wanted to have this and have written about it several times as a wish and there it is. It was a bit rainy, so I put the M15 in a well closed pocket and didn't have to take it out again. All controled from my mobile. I really really wish this would be adapted by all portable player/DAC manufacturers out there.

+ Connection to both 2.4 and 5GHz wireless connections were stable and the reception was the best I have seen so far. I did stream from Qobuz and DLNA and I didn't notice any reception noise.

+ Even the Chrome is working with a pretty decent speed and was able to access YouTube with no issues. I installed the NewPipe for watching the YouTube videos and it works pretty well.

+ Screen quality is just decent. People willing to have 1080p on a music player have no idea about what they are talking about. The screen resolution for its size is just perfect! Anything more would be just a waste of battery.

+ Tried DSD512 over USB and it is also working well, without any glitches.

Issues:

- IMPROVEMENT: I really really would like to see a better indication for volume level.

- BUG: While using the Qobuz application, if I stream a HiRes file and then go back to 44/16, the sound is distorted with lots of noise. After a restart I can stream the 44/16 files with no issues, but as soon as I play a HiRes file, I cannot play/stream any 44/16 audio again. This is only with the Qobuz application, not with FiiO's own player.

H8 FiiO, if you are watching. Just got the M15. Small thing, but annoying, I changed the playlist order to be in alphabetical order, but that’s changed all my actual playlists so they are no longer as created, I can see no way at all to get back to normal. My X7 was on 1.06 fw, it had more options here and you could get it back into order! Quite annoying

So the problem is in the master view of playlists you can sort into alphabetical order which is what I want. But when you do this it actually changes the playlist itself into alphabetical order as well which is of course not wanted. So fiio just need to ensure the changes only occur at the folder level and don’t mess with the playlists themselves!

Dear user,

Thanks for sharing your experience about M15. And if you would like the digital volume display, you could try this firmware for help: http://fiio-file.fiio.net/M15/M15-ota-eng.FiiO.zip
Update instruction: Download the firmware file from FiiO website then copy the firmware package file to the micro SD card; Open "Technical Support" app on the M11, enter the "Firmware Update" menu, and select the firmware package file to upgrade.
After finishing update and restart, you could enable the digital volume display from system settings-audio.

Best regards

Hi FiiO, I’ve updated to the latest FW and something strange has happened! All the tracks listed as most played on the front screen now seem to play other tracks when I press them. So completely screwed up! Shows one thing, plays something completely different! Please also see my earlier past regarding play list bug as well!

I recently got the M15 and impressed by much of what it has to offer. However, I was disappointed to learn that DSD512 was restricted to USB DAC playback. It seems like such a waste of the DAC chips and femto clocks to not allow native decoding of local files.

Is there a possibility for this be offered in the future through a firmware update?

Does anyone know if the Fiio Link application will allow you to control the playback of streaming services (e.g.; Amazon Music) via the Link app? Or is the control only limited to the playback of local media?
Thanks!

I didn't see a way to do it but maybe @FiiO can comment.

Hello I just received my m15 today and have a bug to report. I have a bunch on music from 2L which is at DXD rate (FLAC 24 bit / 352 khz) Many of the tracks "stutter" meaning there are dropouts / clicks. I am listening to headphones via the balanced out. I am using the fiio music app. The music is loaded on a SD card (Samsung Pro Endurance 128 GB). Examples of albums which stutter: 2L-139, 2L-106, 2L-056. This happens both in Android and Pure Music Mode. I also tried enabling battery saver to cut down on background processes. I am running the most recent firmware, which was posted on this forum which enables numerical volume display.

I am wondering if it has something to do with caching or bitrate / transfer rate as some DXD tracks don't seem to stutter as frequently.

The albums / tracks on the exact same sd card don't stutter on any of my other daps e.g. fiio x7ii, ibasso DX220. it is definitely m15 specific.

Tracks at lower bit rates and other formats seem to work normally e.g. Miles Davis Kind of Blue Wav 192/24, DSD - DSF 5.6 Mhz, DSD - DFF 5.6 Mhz

Dear user,

The FiiO Link function only works for FiiO Music app.

@FiiO could you kindly comment on the dxd playback clicking / stuttering issue I am experiencing. Can you try to replicate? The same sd card and tracks play fine in my other daps including my x7ii.
Dear user,

Do you mean DSD file? What the samping rate of your file? If you are convenient, could you please share the file to us for check? Which output are you using?

Best regards

Hi I answered both questions in post 41.
Balanced out, dxd = pcm 352.8 kHz / 24 bit. It is listed as a supported format in the m15 specs, and as noted plays fine on my other daps. I also gave the 2L album catalog numbers. If you want me to upload please tell me where each song is huge.
