Just wanted to write my experiences with M15 for the past few day. I am not going to blabber about the sound quality, other than saying it is pretty decent, very detailed and powerful. Here are they:
+ The best software experience I have ever had. It is fast, startup is fast, responsive. The whole arrangement of options and settings are just perfect! There is even an extra button to assign the funtionality you want, genius! The Android settings are cleaned up properly and you really see the things you need, not some unusable garbage. Everything is very well thought out. This is probably also the case for the M11. Well done, FiiO!
+ Despite the lack of Google Play, I didn't have to manually load any APKs, Qobuz application (together with several others) was just there to be downloaded with a simple touch and FiiO's own workaround works perfectly fine upgrading to a newer version. If that is not enough, APKPure is also preloaded. Thankfully, FiiO did their best to compensate the lack of Google Play - unlike A&K.
+ Again an indication of how well the whole software experience is thought out: FiiO Link! That was just awesome. While going yesterday, I installed the FiiO link software on my mobile phone, configured the M15 as a FiiO link server, and the application on my mobile as client, paired them over BT and I was able to navigate and control the music player from my mobile phone. I always wanted to have this and have written about it several times as a wish and there it is. It was a bit rainy, so I put the M15 in a well closed pocket and didn't have to take it out again. All controled from my mobile. I really really wish this would be adapted by all portable player/DAC manufacturers out there.
+ Connection to both 2.4 and 5GHz wireless connections were stable and the reception was the best I have seen so far. I did stream from Qobuz and DLNA and I didn't notice any reception noise.
+ Even the Chrome is working with a pretty decent speed and was able to access YouTube with no issues. I installed the NewPipe for watching the YouTube videos and it works pretty well.
+ Screen quality is just decent. People willing to have 1080p on a music player have no idea about what they are talking about. The screen resolution for its size is just perfect! Anything more would be just a waste of battery.
+ Tried DSD512 over USB and it is also working well, without any glitches.
Issues:
- IMPROVEMENT: I really really would like to see a better indication for volume level.
- BUG: While using the Qobuz application, if I stream a HiRes file and then go back to 44/16, the sound is distorted with lots of noise. After a restart I can stream the 44/16 files with no issues, but as soon as I play a HiRes file, I cannot play/stream any 44/16 audio again. This is only with the Qobuz application, not with FiiO's own player.
