I'm probaby missing something but $250 more for the pro, when comparing the upgraded specs, just doesn't seem to justify buying the pro. Thoughts?

Those who buy it will buy it for THX, assuming the SQ is indeed improved over the M11. There is no other reason really.

Take those show reports with a big dollop of salt. One of the FiiO reps told a friend who went to the show that most people "can't hear the difference". We'll see once the final products start shipping.

Agreed, although if the SQ improvement is large enough it won't matter as much. The M15 will also have one card slot as far as I know, but will probably ship with double the 64GB storage of the Pro. The $450 M11 is and will remain the best value mid-to-high end DAP for quite some time yet.

I lost my ONKYO DP-X1 a few months ago, and bought a 1 month old (basically brand new) AK SR15 on here for $450 shipped. That's $250 less than retail. And I've seen the M11's going for @ $400 on here shipped just a couple of months after release.

If you have just a modicum of patience you can get top tier audio at a reasonable price.

AK is a better sound and quality overall. It's very close to the DPX1 and that's why I ended up getting it. It also streams Spotify & Tidal offline

Very true, I buy 90% of my stuff used. New prices are generally stupid. That’s why the M11 is making such as statement in the DAP world - high end quality for midrange price. The Pro will no longer be midrange price, so if and when I buy it I’ll wait for it to drop.

I've been dying to try the Sony's for a while and missed out on a couple of Can-Jam's so... There seems to be a dealer in the East bay or S.F. that carries AK so I might drop by and compare.
