Been spending the best part of yesterday and today on the M11Plus. Yesterday was with the Fitear DC and the Final Shichiku Kangen (Eletech Socrates). Today has been primarily with the Sony Z1R (Eletech Plato). All listening on high gain. The DC was at around 55; the SK and Z1R at around 40.

At the beginning, there was some discernible harshness/sibilance in the high notes. But that quickly calmed down. Been primarily streaming Apple Music Lossless and QQ Music, with a smattering of Tidal Masters. Whilst I do miss the option of Over the Ear function that the M15 has, the M11Plus has been driving the above IEMs effortlessly. I suppose it may struggle with headphones but that is not a concern because I use my DAPs primarily for IEMS. Besides, that’s I have a desktop rig and also the Cayin C9.

First off, I will admit that I am impressed with how precise and impactful the bass is rendered in the M11Plus. there is also great timbre in the mids and it is lovely in its portrayal of vocals. The other thing which I do like about the M11Plus is the soundstage - width and depth. It is surprisingly transparent. Coming from the M15, I am surprised that a bit of the density of sonics that I have always found in the M15 has now given way to a bit more transparency. Do I like it? Well, it is not as thin and wide as the AK2000/AK1000 tends to be. It maintains texture, separation and layering. I do like it for the fact that it is a more balanced.

Granted that it is not as emotive or organic as the Shanling M8, it balances it off with dynamism and transparency. In terms of raw power and impact, I think the DX300 (amp 12) still takes it. What it does mean for me is that the M11Plus will be jockeying for position to be my travel companion when I once again am able to travel for work.

One quirk i will mention. Whilst the USB DAC is easy to switch on, as it is for the M15, and very intuitive. However, I was not able to connect it to my iDevices. Which is not the case with the M15. Yes, I did try the M15 USB DAC immediately after the M11Plus USB DAC function. Immediate connection.

I played around with the pure music mode for a few songs. Seems to work nicely. No complaints there.

Will continue to incrementally burn in the M11Plus. Puzzled by the USB DAC. Will try again another time. Not critical for me now that I have the excellent Dethonray Honey H1 and the equally wonderful Luxury & Precision W2. But still puzzling. Perhaps @FiiO can enlighten if the M11Plus USB DAC function is working properly in this iteration of the firmware?

@progdvd You will love it. It an excellent DAP. Especially at its current price point.

I am enjoying the M11 plus very much. It works great as a dac in my desktop system. I find the sound 3 dimensional and the bass has plenty of slam. What I find most noteworthy though is the way it renders vocals, the are just gorgeous. The USB dac is working great with my windows 10 PC.

Yes, Apple Music works and logs in without any problem.

@FiiO need some help. Do I need to do anything to enable the USB DAC connection other than invoking the USB DAC mode? Note that I am using a DDHifi OTG cable. I also tried it with the M15, which works with no issues at all. Much appreciated.

M15 Never worked with my iPhone either, it requires too much power from the iPhone so it prevents from being a usb Dac. I don’t think this is a problem with the m11, more so a limitation of iPhones Lighting port.
