Well on that last one I can't comment.
If you prefer the apple dongle then go on and save some money.

Of course while the Aria and FH3 are great for the price (I have both) they are not iems worth of M11 Plus and/or suitable for gear evaluation.

I don't use Deezer so I don't know about this app lagging or not.

With Tidal and Qobuz or playing local files is super fast but surely not flagship 1K+ flagship phone fast.

For a DAP is very fast and I can't tell it from my iBasso DX300.

As always advertised battery duration is under optimal conditions.

I get about 9 hours streaming Qobuz with various headphones and iems and this is pretty good in my opinion.

As for being laggy what do you mean?

This is one of the fastest DAPs on the market.
Like high end smartphone.
I stream while browsing or editing text and viewing photos without any lag at all.
It did surprise me too, having never owned a dac I expected full smartphone speed from the M11. In my experience it’s still very slow. I can only imagine how slow previous daps have been.

Previous generation daps where very slow and sometimes painful to use them!

I count the M11 plus a fast performer and an upgrade from the M11pro.

Still it is not as fast as a good phone because although it runs an open android 10 with a top soc it is optimized to favor musical performance.
All subsystems running while playing music will slow down actual performance.

Not sure I want to keep the M11 Plus:

The digital section is stellar; excellent clocking and clean digital signal, I can immediately hear it even on LDAC bluetooth earphones (wf1000XM4) which sound better by a fair bit on the Plus than the Sony ZX507.

I like the impactful solid bass and deep sub rumble, I like the wide stage and super clean grain free sound, I don't mind the slightly ethereal mids, but I'm not sure I can live with the bright treble which is highlighted by the slightly soft ethereal mids - it just doesn't sound natural nor neutral enough to my needs, but kind of U shaped signature.. It might not be a tonal thing but too fast attack/decay and/or some glare.. I will re-evaluate as I go along but comparing it to my Apogee Element which is uber neutral (doesn't sound bright nor bassy, nor etheral or soft, just direct and natural with a sense of calmness encompassing all elements of the sound), the M11 Plus just sounds like it has more glare up top, highlighting the sparkly treble a bit too much for my liking. Wether its the AKM Dacs or the THX amps I'm not sure, I feel it might just be the AKM sound which tries too hard to sound hifi perhaps.. but then the Apogee doesn't sound like a Sabre DAC at all; it sounds neutral pleasant and non digital, so it might just be implementation.

btw - i am being quite critical here, and fighting an inner struggle for my natural/warm leaning preference as the m11 Plus does other sound quality aspects very well indeed.

From the perspective of someone who’s only used entry level sources and was bought into the whole “all DACs are the same” meme, the m11+ has been a real eye (ear) opener. Sound quality is, frankly, fantastic, especially when you start turning the volume up.

Bass extension and detail are on a completely different level to what I’ve tried up to now, and the staging, imaging, separation side of it is really impressive - it’s like note weight and detail improve even though everything sounds more separated and spacious.

I was absolutely prepared to return it if it was anything less than excellent (30 day no questions asked, and bought locally, so would have been the work of seconds), but there’s no way I could give it up now, and it’s only been a week!

Highlights- my SA6s were clearly not being driven properly by my other sources, they sound so much more dynamic and powerful now, bass imaging is really vivid, with huge punch that just wasn’t there before. Even my budget sets are scaling up nicely, and it’s very good at fully revealing an earphone’s tuning / characteristics (not always for the better, synergy is definitely a thing with these, possibly because of the higher output impedance than I’m used to).

Using it in pure music mode, so I’m not really affected by the OS, though I wasn’t able to get Bluetooth working properly (wanted to use Fiio Control, but even though the DAP will pair with my phone it can’t hold the connection, so the Fiio app detects the player but shows it as permanently disconnected).

That aside, it’s made for some sublime listening sessions - thanks @FiiO, great work, but please have a look at the BT capability, would be great to get remote control working as the player is too big to be constantly pulling out of pockets, or the shoulder pouch I use to carry it

Hello,

Sometimes the touch volume control go crazy. When i touch the volume pad, graphic animations flashs erratic (up and down) but stay in same place.
The volume buttons work fine in this cases.
When it happens i have to reboot to restore the right function of the touch volume.

Someone has experience the same?
Dear friend,

If this problem happens frequently, please contact support@fiio.com with a small video attached. Thanks in advanced!

Dear friend,

Thanks for the feedback and sharing. And the FiiO Control function you mentioned is used for adjusting our Bluetooth Amplifier instead of the player. Do you want to remote control the player via the mobile phone? If yes, you could try the FiiO Link function instead.

Best regards

Received mine on yesterday. First there are two little flaws on it. Little dust under the glass (hopefully only under the screen protector und not under the display), and a little scratch in the aluminum frame. Not good for such a expensive player, let me a little disappointed. My M11 came absolutely flawless out of the box.
Coming from the normal M11 the plus model is much much faster. It almost feels like an highend smartphone, except the low resolution of the display.
I switched to the common three buttons old school android navigation. It is impossible for me to tap correctly on buttons near the frames without automatically going back for example, when on gestures control. This is because the leather case is a bit thicker than the one from further M11 generations.
For now I’m not sure which player sounds better for me. The plus sounds a little too warm for me and produces sometimes lesser hisses in the highs, that’s all. Can’t hear any other differences between the two devices and must say for me the M11 sounds better.
Compared to the “little” M11 it is really big and heavy.
But the big problem i have with it too, is the heat dissipation. Even with the FH7 on low gain.
My normal M11 even don’t get so “hot” when i am hearing with my 600ohm Beyerdynamic T1 2nd generation.
What is getting the player sooo warm? The Snapdragon or the audio parts in it? Aren’t they nearly identical to the M11 Pro? Does the M11 Pro also get so hot?
Tested with Fiio FH7, Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd & T1 2nd.
Dear friend,

Sorry about that. We have reported to the quality engineers about that. And you could contact the seller to help about this problem.

We apology for any inconvenience bringing to you.

Best regards

Well I also have the Blessing 2 Dusk and S8, but I only use those at my desk top. Same with all my Headphones. Not gonna leave the house with stuff that cost me 450 CAD or 1000 CAD lol.

Deezer and the UI in general lag like hell for me. Frame rate constantly drops, and everything is slow. Definitely nowhere near as fast as my Pixel 5 or iPhone X.

And in theory I should get 11 hours of battery life. Sometimes just going into the settings lags like hell as well. Maybe I’m just used to faster phones.

Honestly just tempted to buy a Galaxy A52 and getting a Shanling UA2 or something at this point. (Can’t use my Pixel because 128gb isn’t enough and I use GrapheneOS and don’t use Aurora Store) and my iPhone is only 64gb.

And honestly from all my AB testing I don’t hear a difference from the DAP from just the Apple Dongle.
Guy, if you think this sounds the same as the Apple dongle, I think you either need better earphones or to get your hearing checked. There is absolutely no comparison.

I mean, I have the FH3, Aria, Blessing 2 Dusk, S8, HD 650, HD 800s, Sundara, and I plan on getting the IE900 later in the year. And I get my hearing checked once a year. Perfectly fine lol. Still have the hearing of a 18 year old. I guess I just don't notice subtle differences.

If you have all of that equipment and still don’t notice a difference, you might as well just get yourself a pair of Airpods and call it a day. Because the differences are hardly subtle. But as long as you’re enjoying yourself, do your thing.

Well Bluetooth is trash. I actually CAN hear a difference between Bluetooth and wired. Which I think it's funny. LDAC 990 I have a harder time but sometimes I can hear artifacts still. Not to mention I'm against TW earbuds because they're just easy E-Waste and sound awful. Oh and I always get disconnect issues with Bluetooth.
