Talking of balanced, is there any difference between the 4.4mm and 2.5mm connections in terms of SQ (speaking of my M11 here)? Am thinking of getting the BTR5 to upgrade my BTR3 and that's got a 2.5mm socket, my X7ii has 2.5mm too, so getting a 2.5mm upgrade cable seems to be a +ve upgrade for the FH7s, but wondering if I'm losing out over the 4.4mm?

PS... Just realised Im probably in the wrong forum, lol.

cheers!
As far as I can personally tell, on the M11 there seems to be no difference between 2.5 and 4.4 in sound. But definite improvement over 3.5, if that helps?

Anyone know if I can connect the M11p to my amplifier (desktop) via SPDIF terminating in 3.5? I have a optical and a coax available on the amp. I'm trying to avoid RCA. If RCA is my only option does anyone know of a quality RCA cable?

Dear friend,

The M11PRO doesn't have optical output but the coaxial output. You could try the 3.5mm(TRRS) to 3.5mm coaxial cable for help.

Best regards

Hi everyone

I am planning to get those or the Fearless S8pro.
After researching the FH7 i read multiple reports mentioning a "haze" or weirdness in the mids but no one explained it enough. So what is that exactly?
It was something that I started to notice over time after critical listening. Certain male vocals such as Sam Smith or James Arthur seemed emotionally distant and recessed. I was advised to switch to the balanced output of my ES100 and after trying this out, the majority of this problem was solved. Before the switch, mids would seem to sit behind the ear. It took some time to notice due to the incredible treble detail, transient response, and air which gave the FH7's their wow factor (I walked into the store intent on trying and buying the Andromedas but ended up walking out with the FH7's). After the switch to balanced, I was much happier since the mids were brought forward and the stage was wider and much better defined. However, the incredible transient response of the treble that is also present in the mids seems to be a drawback for the mids. The speed at which it decays robs the mids of a full and thick timbre (a strong point on the AudioSense T800's). However, if this is your sonic preference, it may not be a bad thing. It is reminiscent of the Focal Elex which is why I continue to love my FH7's since both share similarly lean mids and wonderful treble detail (although they can both get sibilant at times).

I have the se846, and have to say their are one of the best all rounded items I ever heard. How do you compare against the fh7? they sound promising in paper and graphs
I own the FH7 and and did a quick demo of the SE846. From what I can tell, the bass of the SE846 is much fatter, rumbles more, and reaches lower than the FH7. The FH7 focuses more on sub-bass with less pronounced mid-bass and has a relatively fast decay making it sound clean yet satisfying (FH7 bass responds to EQ well). Mids of the SE846 are also fuller and decay more slowly than the lightning fast mids of the FH7. In the treble, the FH7 wins out in terms of detail, airiness, and extension although it is much more prone to sibilance. The FH7 offers a much leaner, more sparkly, and more detailed experience but can be fatiguing for long listens. The SE846 is more laid back with better sub-bass meatiness.

In terms of fit and isolation, the SE846 is better for those with small ears since the FH7 is shallow fit with a large shell and can fall out for some people. This difference in fit in addition to the venting of the FH7 also makes the SE846 a much better commuter IEM since isolation is leagues above the FH7. However, those with average or larger ears will likely have no problems with comfort on either. Both have solid build quality and interchangeable filters although the effect of the filters on the FH7 is more subtle than pronounced. Hope that helps!

I enjoy sales like 12/12 because the FH7 goes on deep discount from $443 US to $441

Dear FiiO

There are a couple of questions addressed to you in the FiiO X5 II thread, which have remained unanswered since quite a while. Would you be so kind as to have a look?

It really does!
Since my foulty FH5, i was tempting in buying the FH7, or a more reliable in-ear like the SE846. I ended with the SE846, and agree with your mini-review of them. The sub-bass is really meatty, if EQ is apply in the lowest notes, it just add rumble without mudding the bass and mids. Really a piece of jewerly this Se846.

How do the upper mids compare to the FH-5? I'm really enjoying the 5's but they upper mids are a a bit forward.

After spending a month with them, I can safely say they sound great. The sound is incredibly fast, clean and detailed. It's not an euphonic sound that I am used to(HD 650), but it offers a different flavour. It sounds U shaped to my ears. The mids are somewhat recessed with a boost in the upper mids. The bass is fast, controlled and tight, and the treble is sparkly without getting sibilant. My only complaint about the sound is they are dry sounding. They don't sound as liquid and natural as my HD 650, but are technically better. Because of this dryness, I can't enjoy some songs. Overall, you get great technicalities for the price and if you don't mind a dry sound, I would recommend them.

Hi Fiio

Where can I get replacement ear tips for my FH7 in UK?
Dear user,

You could contact the local seller to see whether they could offer extra eartips for you. If the seller fails to help, you could contact support@fiio.com about that.

Best regards

My pair ran into a problem. It sounds slightly wrong in the upper mids and lower treble. They sound slightly harsh. I sent them back to the fiio's office in India. They tested my iem against the demo unit. There were some slight changes in the frequency, but the THD was within limit. The technician told me to burn them in for 200 hours and then he will redo the test. If there is some driver problem like some kinda displacement inside, will it show in the THD?
