Hi @FiiO,

I bought the FH5 a few days ago and i love them. The sound difference between the FH5 and Sennheiser IE80 (my old headphones now) is quite remarkable. The sound layering is so good, that i can pin point where every instrument sits and plays. I was worried a little bit about the fitting since they are bigger than the IE80, but i can say that the FH5 are even more comfortable, and ergonomic.

I have one curiosity if you can shed some light.

It is regarding the 2 BA drivers for the high frequencies. As i understand, an electronic crossover is used for every driver. Now, since my hearing and i think i am speaking for majority of users, is maximum 15 khz, i want to know what is the cutoff frequency for these 2 tweeters. I understand that one driver renders, let's say, the lower highs, and the other one, the higher ones (please correct me if i am wrong). I would like to know if the driver that renders the higher frequencies is above or below 15Khz. And if so, by how much.

By the way, as a source, i am using my trusty X3II which works flawlessly from the day i bought it.

Thanks :)
Dear user,

I am not sure about the BA driver. But the frequency response of the FH5 is 15Hz-40kHz.

Best regards

Coming from using Sennheiser IE-80 for well over 8 years (same pair!)
These are absolutely amazing. I still think the IE-80 had better soundstage but the audio quality isn't comparable. These are a league of an upgrade.

Is it even possible to get these vocal ear tips on the phones? The hole is just too small. Tried it for 10 minutes now.

Dear user,

Please try to place the core half over the soundpipe of the product at an angle and apply pressure to the top of the tip to gently roll the rest of the core onto the soundpipe.

Best regards

Thanks for the reply. I mean i did nothing different and all the other tips fit perfect but the vocal tips are just impossible to get on. Maybe it's because it was open boxed and they mixed the vocal tips while refurbishing and put another models tips in? But the foam tips work good for me anyways.

I think I made a big mistake about the tips.
The default M size tip doesn't work well, so I started chasing M or S from other brands.
I found some other IEMs work well with default tip and they seem bigger than FH5's, so
I tried L from FH5 package, and it works well and seal well, ran a cycle and back to ground 0.

That's how it goes with IEM's, due to stem width/length variance among brands you aren't going to have the same size tip on all IEM's unfortunately (for ideal fit).

Has anyone else experienced a reduction in highs with the FH5? I've been using these quite a lot and the highs are no longer as loud. From what I could find there is one damper for the highs installed. The exterior grill was squeaky clean with absolutely no sign of grime, but I figured out maybe sweat and oil got into the nozzle. I left the nozzle soak in hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes, I don't want to use isopropyl alcohol as it might attack the glue and plastic parts. This made a huge difference in sound, it's open and clear again so the damper getting clogged seems to be the problem. Does anyone know the specs of the original damper for a possible replacement?

Is there anyone who's used the double-flange eartips with these that has any reccomendations for something similar that's slightly smaller, or narrower?

The deeper insertion means they're the only ones that really seal for me, but I really have to jam them in to get them to stay, so after a couple of hours of use my delicate slender earholes (if that is such a thing) get sore.
