FiiO Hybrid IEMs Discussion & Impressions Thread
Jan 15, 2021 at 3:35 PM Post #871 of 2,767
I purchased my FH3’s in October and I have been very satisfied with them until now. When removing the plug from my player the plug pulled out of the L shaped fitting and will not seat properly again. (See photos)
I foolishly tried to force it back in and tried to get it to stay in and it appears I may have damaged them. Doh! Has anyone else had this issue. I have always been careful when removing the cable, never pulling on the cable itself. While I am glad to know the cable is replaceable I fear that this will happen again. Maybe a set screw could prevent this happening again. This is my only complaint with these IEM’s. Just being pressed in is obviously a weakness in this particular cable. Being able to withstand the stress of multiple plugging in and removals I would think was an oversight missed here. The rest of the cable seems solid and secure. It appears to look solid and secure at first look, but after use...well, see what I’m saying. I doubt that this will be covered by warranty so can anyone recommend a replacement cable that is built to prevent this?C0A66701-23C0-47A8-9D16-1E6DE3335832.jpegF2D4907C-2FDC-44F6-82B4-94ADCB1F92AA.jpeg
Same thing happened my cable but it seemed to be ok after I pushed it back in. I use a KBear Rhyme with my FH3 now though so haven't used this cable in a while.

From my quick researching it appears that this design is common with this type of connection with many similar cables. And I read one review that mentioned that he tried to remove it with pliers and it was tight and secure, unable to loosen it. This may be true, but as I look at this connection I have to say that this is a stress point that will be repeatedly used that may over time loosen up. Why not have it threaded, pinned, or a set screw to prevent that stress from separation. Maybe someone who has more knowledge can educate me about this. I am researching for a balanced replacement cable so I can use it with my Fiio X5 lll. Bummed I’m out a cable though.

Anxiously waiting for my FH3s to arrive from Amazon after being away from the scene for a while now. Super excited. I'm now looking into DAC/amps and the BTR5 and BTR3K have caught my eye. Any other recommendations for $100 and under? I'm still pretty new to all of this. Also looking at the Tripowin Zowie for a 2.5mm MMCX balanced cable since it's also on Amazon and easy to get (I also have some Amazon gift cards to use up). Thoughts?
I got myself a BTR5 and very happy with it. I have other dacs, so i use it as bluetooth dongle, and works great for that.

And which one is which? what colour here is the T2 and which one is the FH3?
Looking at Crin’s graphs it would seem the red one is the FH3.

Here is the graph for these IEMs from that source.

and here is the same graph normalized at 1khz

Ho would these iem compare with the BLON 03 or the KZ ZS 10 Pro? Blon I have them, fit is horrible. The KZ are just 30 bucks, they look awful though... Sometimes, you have to spend that little extra to get the premium so, I think gonna get me a pair of these, but first, some questions before spending my hard earned money:

Fiio Germany shop is official seller with decent fiio warranty??

Thanks!!

If you have the stock blon 03, then the bass is bloated on it and it doesnt compete with the FH3 at all. (same with the mesh mod version, but doesnt bleed as much as stock and sounds better sq and technicalites wise)

the 03 only wins with the timbre, dd timbre is near unbeatable for all other driver types.

ZS10 pro....had it like 2 years ago or something...but sold it...one of the few handful of transducers I have sold lol.

bl03 fit so bad, and then they do not hold the eartip properly, the chromed surface is slippery. Ended up hating iem's and bought me a sennheiser HD25 and that is what I use in DAP mode, instead of annoying iem's, when I have been using iems everyday on the go since 2006 until 2020... my blon never had much bass really... anyhow, will have to order some fh3 to compare I guess.

Perhaps you haven't been following this thread attentively enough.

Mine developed the problem within 3 weeks of purchase, there is clearly a design fault and a quality control issue on that part and replacement should be covered by the warranty.

I reached out to Fiio’s Customer Service and they were lightning quick to respond to my emails and address my issue. They are going to rectify the problem. I am very impressed with their customer service and communications. That’s the kind of customer service that keeps me as a returning customer and promotes brand name loyalty. I love and miss my FH 3’s and I can’t wait to get them back in my ears. We’re best “buds!”

I recently got the FH3s, they are my first step on this hobby. I have to say i am very happy with the performance, I previously own the momentums/hd1 in ears (that are perfectly fine), but this iems felt like a legit upgrade, they are more balanced and detailed. Apart from the sound, there is a step up in build quality in the headphones and cable (a bit bulky), also having a detachable cable gives me peace of mind, because every iem that has failed me, failed because of the cable. Recommended!

PD: I want to make them wireless and was looking forward to buying a btr3k or a UTWS3. Any tips to help me decide?
