I have to agree with you on the smoothness... the treble is pleasant and not so eager to show off all details like other V-shaped IEMs tend to be. Detail is there but the rendering is very good.

I still have a bit of problem with the elevated bass levels but I'll tip-roll later in the week to find my favourite combo.

Finally, but only in black:

The EX1 v.2s are the best earphones I have, so I'm looking forward to reading your comparison.

I've had my lovely blue set since last week, and will be writing a full review later. But what I can say is that if you like the EX1 v. 2s, then you will LOVE these. Fiio aimed for the fences and hit a walk-off home run with the FH1s. They are amongst the most comfortable IEMs I have, and the sound is full and engaging. I was hesitant on the F9s due to the reviews and the "treble spike," and I'm glad I waited. These are beautiful-looking and -sounding. Kudos, Fiio - you have a real winner here.

Thank you! as much as anything else, it's good to know you find them comfortable. The nozzles on them look larger those on the EX1 II.

I didn't notice any big difference in size, but I'll get the micrometer out and check and will post the findings here. They are very comfortable, they fit really nicely in my ear cavity. I think they're more comfortable than the EX1s due to the rounded shapes of the housing, although I never had a big problem with the EX1s unless I laid on them and they pushed into my ear in one direction on the rim of the housing.

The only IEMs that I have that are as comfortable are my P1s, which I find to be the most comfy I have. I know some people don't like the fit, but they match my ear wonderfully and I've fallen asleep with them many a time. The P2s are obviously about the same. There might be something else in my collection that is also good, but it's certainly not something in even close to regular rotation or comparable in performance.

I'd give the FH1s a try -- IMHO, you can't beat the performance for the price in anything I've tried. So far, I'm ecstatic!

I've been using mine FH1 for a week now and without beating around the bush I must say that all things considered these are my favorite iem's to date.
They are not the best in any aspect but they are not bad at any thing and quite good at many.

During my search I tried many different 'crowd favorites' but non of them was 'perfect enough' for me to keep them:

I liked the Westone W30 but the treble was too sibilant for me on some occasions with some vocals.
I liked the midrange of the 535's but the woolly bass was a bit of a turnoff.
I liked the bass and midrange of the 1more Quad's but the high treble seemed 'disjointed' from the rest of the spectrum on many tracks.
I liked the smoothness of the Final Heaven IV's but compared even to Phiaton MS100BA or 300BA they seemed liveless.

FH1 although 'on paper' inferior to any of them in practice has none of the faults mentioned above; it's super comfortable, comes with nice set of accessories and costs a fraction of the price of W30 or 535's.

I'm using them mostly with Westone Bluetooth cable and the only thing I think I'm loosing compared with running them from Fiio Q1 MK2 is a bit of resolution and bass control.
Obviously YMMV and if you are fan of completely neutral bass and and a little bright signature (any Pinnacle P1 fans? :) ) you may want to look elsewhere.
On another hand if you always liked Shure 215's entertainment factor but they were a little bit too bassy for you with way too much rolled off treble then you might love FH1.

I just received mine and it's surprisingly good for its price! It sound even better when paired with BTR1! Comparing to the sony xb75 i owned previously, the bass is more refined and even more punchy than the sony's one. I kinda like the bass on this. It hit really deep. Listening to mike posner - please dont go is really enjoyable. Comapring to F9 and pioneer Ch9T that i tried recently.. i actually like this more. Btw, I know the red tips are for bass, the black tips are for more balanced sound. I'm keeping this! (I got the blue one, gorgeous..)

I thought the colour coded tips, red on my red F9's, that have the smaller bore were the bass tips and the grey opaque tips with the larger bore were the balanced ones?

Hi yes. That's actually what i meant. Thanks for the more detailed input.

Returning my FH1, so look out on the clearance section of Advancedmp3players.co.uk if you want to grab a cheap pair (black).

(Just a bit too dark, Black Metal doesn't sound right on them - I even prefer KZ ATR to them when it comes to metal, which is a good 70% of what I listen to).

I've got my fh1 two weeks ago from Amazon it and comparing to the EX1 that I bought two years ago, this sound amazing. Clearly an overall improvement regarding the sound. But today, after listening no more than 1-2 h/day, I wanted to change the silicone tips and one came off with the copper tube. I felt really sad because this has the sound that I was looking for. I am thinking to rebuy them after I get my refund but what if it happens again? Does someone from fiio has some answers for me? Thanks!

Dear friend,

Sorry about that. We have also reported to the engineers about this problem. Have improved in the later batch. What is your seller's name? Please try to contact your seller for a replacement.

Sorry for bringing inconvenience to you.

Best regards

Oof, that sucks. At least I'm not the only one who experienced this. I've found it helps to pull them off by pulling them towards an edge (perpendicular to the tube) rather than trying to pull the tips straight off.
