Does the FD5 use standard MMCX connector? I got a 2 pin to MMCX that works perfectly on my IER-M9 but keep cutting out non stop on the FD5...

Pretty certain it does, I have tried several different brands of MMCX cables with FD5 and no issue.Does the FD5 use standard MMCX connector? I got a 2 pin to MMCX that works perfectly on my IER-M9 but keep cutting out non stop on the FD5...
Same here. I too have tried different MMCX cables without any issue on both the FD5 and FD7.Pretty certain it does, I have tried several different brands of MMCX cables with FD5 and no issue.

https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/fiio-utws5.25657/review/27719/ Fantastic pairing with the UTWS5. A wireless FD5 is much better than you guys would imagine. The UTWS5 dac/amp chip the AK4332/ velvet sound tuning synergizes with the FD5. The arms cost as much as a decent cable. Highly recommended if you want to use the FD5 on the go.

How do they stay in place?
Is it a thighter fit than with a cable?
Thank you.

They have a snug fit for my medium sized ears. More importantly they are comfy and stay in place when doing physical stuff. AS long as your not boxing or anything like that. Not my pic but you can see how they fit. As long as you have average sized ears give or take smaller to larger you won't have any issues with fitment. Thing has up to 30-40ft of range and lasts 8 hours on a single charge. Its SQ is way better than you would imagine coming from these arms. Equivalent to them dac/amp dongles you seen folks use on their phones. Plenty of power for just about any IEM.

Aaaargh.
That's the wrong iem. ^^
How is it with the FD5.
Guess it'll look and feel different than IE900.

The fit for me is slightly tighter as the arms press inward toward the ear. But very comfy no hot spots. I think how much pressure the arms have toward the ear will be more dependent on the shape of a persons ear. My shape is very similar to the picture above. I have ears that are more laid back vs being dumbo like. I would imagine if your ears stick out a bit it will fit a bit looser.
I have read the entirety of the UTWS5 thread and while there are complaints of a few minor bugs here and there but I have yet to see a complaint of the arms not fitting well for a person. The arms themselves is actually smaller in size and not so big which helps them stay in place.

A good DAC for the Fiio FD5? I have a Fiio k3 (2021), is it enough or would you recommend another?

K3 is plenty powerful enough and has a great sound quality. I would try it first and see how it goes for you..
Thanks for trying it. I have the pro cable that comes with the FD3 on the FD5. I read you here saying that it softens the treble and I am very happy with the result of that cable in the FD5

My preferred source with this IEM is the Cayin N3Pro in triode mode. Still V-shaped but not as intense.
