FiiO&JadeAudio Dynamic Driver IEMs Discussion & Impressions Thread

Anyone tried the FD3/FD3 Pro and compared them to the FD5? I have the FD3Pro and have not been very impressed with them so far.
I have both but I haven't done a direct comparison.
From memory the FD3 tuning is more balanced and the FD5 has better bass quantity and quality but with a more colored sound signature.
FD3 seems to be cleaner with a wider soundstage.

Well, in the $100 price range, honestly the only one I've got is the Aria and to me, it's better in every way. My other IEMs are all >$300, so it's not really fair to compare them.

My opinions on the Aria pretty closely match the various online reviews. To my knowledge I'm not aware of any that aren't glowing in their praise. They're just really enjoyable to listen to without any real faults, for their price.

I think you have the 3DT's if I remember right, but the Aria has a totally different sound profile. Almost the polar opposite. Warm, relaxed, smooth, low detail level.

Ok, out of the E1DA 9038S these sound AMAZING. I thought they would sound too sterile but nope. The synergy is just excellent. Very musical. And with the Xelastec tips, the tuning is just perfect (like Harman neutral, but better and still fun). 👌 Bass, mids, highs all in perfect harmony.

I'm most surprised by the midrange detail on these. Looking at the graph, they look recessed and with the regular balanced tips they certainly sound that way. But the Xelastec tips really bring out the vocals. Listening to Billie Eilish's Happier Than Ever, I can actually hear her taking breaths in her songs. I can hear the scratchiness in her voice. So intimate.

Im starting to like this combo more than the B2 Dusk. And that's one of my favorite combos with the 9038S. Soundstage on these beat the Dusk for sure. I think these actually sound better than the Oracle too. Endgame for sure 👍
Hello. I'm also using FD5 with E1DA 9038SG3, and also using XINHS graphene cable, but mine is 4 core. I can absolutely agree, that this is an excellent combo, as for now I can't get enough of listening to it. Though, my preferences on tubes and tips are different. I've tried a lot of different tips and tubes combinations, even different sizes, tested it on special tracks and on my regular music (which is mostly deathcore and metalcore, or folk metal and symphonic metal), and now I made a conclusion that my favorite combination is narrow tubes with SpinFit CP800 eartips. At first I thought that I liked wide tubes with CP145, or OEM bass eartips the most, but there is a lot of problems on tracks with a lot of treble - sometimes it all starts to rustle and hiss so much, that I can barely hear other frequencies from all that "iron waterwall". Not only treble actually, the guitar distortion is also affected by this problem sometimes. The CP145 tips are taming the treble, but they also reduce bass, and I can't sacrifice the bass, I like it so much. So that's my way to enjoy this IEMs, and I think it's so exciting that there's so much customization can be done to make FD5 comfortable for everyone, wherein saving that technical-musical balance.

So the Effect Audio ARES II (8 Wire braid) 100% copper OCC cable has arrived and I couldn't be happier with the pairing with the FiiO FD5. Granted the cable cost as much as the FD5 but that's not the point.

The cable has smoothed out the treble energy in a near perfect way. It still allows the FD5 to carry weight and sparkle and air in the treble but has gracefully take just the right amount of edge off.

The strength of the FD5 is that the single dynamic driver allows for a deep but balanced bass reproduction but also a natural mid-range. These strengths of the FD5 even more enhanced with the addition of the new cable.

I feel like this IEM is actually very strong contender for best in class in the single dynamic driver IEM category. The FD5 is a great IEM that to my ears just needed the addition of a high quality copper cable to just smooth everything out.

Hiby R8-->Effect Audio ARES 8 wire copper cable-->FiiO FD5=Bliss!

Thanks FiiO!! You have built an amazing IEM.

Fiio FD3 Review

The FD5 Gets an Affordable Little Brother

The Fiio FD3 is an outstanding value and is a joy to listen to. Whether you’re going for the single-ended standard version or the interchangeable cable of the Pro version, it outperforms its price point soundly. If you’re in the market for a full-bodied, single dynamic driver IEM and don’t want to break the bank, this is an excellent choice for gaming and music alike.

Hi FiiO, how about producing a high quality pure copper cable? maybe with interchangeable connector like LC-RE.

.
The LC-RE is not too shabby!

Has anyone tried Spinfit CP500 or CP155 on FD5? I've noticed that the wide eartips make treble more crystal sounding, and overall sound becomes harder and more accurate. I kinda like how oem bass tips sound, but it also makes treble much louder. So, I'm searching for eartips that will subtract the treble yet make it crystal clean if that's possible.
