In 2018, FiiO's Quad Driver Balanced Armature In-Ear Monitors FA7 shockingly came to the market, which helped to greatly lower the price of resin earphones to a most user-friendly level. As an all-new upgraded version of the FA7, the #6 Balanced Armature IEMs FA7S# has upgraded the 4 balanced armatures to 6 even though it was not processed by 3D printing technology. Thus, more drivers allow for more possibilities.

The low frequencies of the FA7S are responsible by Knowles 31618 compound double drivers. At the rear cavity is a perforated design that runs through the whole cavity to ensure airflow dynamics are balanced in the whole chamber. Two Knowles 33518 drivers are in charge of high frequencies with fairly high extension, and there is a highs cutoff design leading to smooth and detailed sound performance. In addition, the customized mids driver setup connects the bass, mids and highs together more smoothly and coherently.

In terms of the acoustic structure, we designed a 1:1:1 balanced system for the low, mid and high frequencies which are separated by the "2+2+2" method. That is, the bass, mids and highs all used 2 drivers each, and then they are cut, jointed and combined in turn by a specially designed electronic and structural crossover system. Therefore, all frequencies are balanced to achieve a better listening experience.

The FA7S adopts FiiO's third-generation industrial design with a stunning cylindrical appearance. Each earphone unit made of fastidiously drawn stainless steel and bright blue steel mesh comes together in an intricate design that's aggressively bold yet pleasantly soothing. Besides, the semi-open acoustic design at the rear cavity still works with an added acoustic damping system, which makes good use of both the cavity and drivers for sound tuning, thus making for balanced dynamics and comfortable listening.

As a mid-to-high-end earphone model, the FA7S comes with an exclusive cable made of high-purity monocrystalline silver-plated copper, twist-lock interchangeable 2.5/3.5/4.4mm plugs system and an extensive set of accessories.

Before announcing the price, let's first take a look at the cost differences between the FA7 and the FA7S. Compared to the FA7, the resin earphone shell is optimized to a metal shell with double cost. The balanced armature drivers are upgraded from four to six with a raised 40% at the cost. The included earphone cable is upgraded from a 4-stranded silver-plated monocrystalline copper to an 8-stranded high-purity silver-plated monocrystalline copper cable with a swappable audio plug design with tripled cost increased. Since the cost has gone up so far compared to the FA7, how much should we sell the FA7S?
