[FIIO FA19] Flagship 10 Knowles BA IEM

For an 3-Way System? Wow... that is more than i expected, much more.

I am looking forward to hear how these compare to offerings in the same price range.

The FA9 was very easy to recommend with good foam (got forbid the ones shipped with the IEM) which sold at 550€ MSR and 350€ on sale. It had an excellent tuning and only minor issues which was very very rare for the price it sold for.

For that price, i expect the FA19 to compete with the SE846, IER-M9, Mach 70 and similar offerings.

Especially i am curious if the vent affects isolation

From my field tests, the FA19 has slightly above average isolation, but is not as isolating as those non-vented pure BA types.

But the vents are a double-edged sword, the vented sub-woofer makes the BA bass in the FA19 sound very close to a DD bass in terms of movement of air and decay.

All non-vented IEMs are a total no-go for me because of my sensitivity to inner-ear pressure, which is why the FA19 is on my very short list of all-BA IEMs that I want to audition at the next SoCal CanJam.

fiio fx15 has superior passive isolation, compared vs bose qc ultra earbuds very similar results. no other iem has so good isolation . with w1 eartips.

You should not have any inner-ear pressure when using any IEM with foam. As unvented IEM should not be used with silicone tips (that is highly disregarded by all professional/major IEM makers as it can permanently damage your hearing) so there should be no issue with the FA19 or any other unvented IEM.

The woofer drivers are vented, this will probably have no effect to the inner-ear pressure. Maybe FiiO did vent the whole IEM (it doesn't look like, but who knows), but its unlikely. They only vented the Bass BA as it seems. They did the same thing already on the FA9 and as many users reported, did not have influence on air-pressure issues, so these also had to be used with foam (but shipped with ton of silicone tips what nobody understood... audiophiles just love them so hard).

I hate foam eartips.
But thanks for trying to help. :beerchug:

When you have hearing damage, which is what you get when you are old or don’t reap the isolation benefits foam tips provide, you have to rely on those silicone resonances for perceived detail.

fx15 beats fh9 easy,so,fa19 beats too....

I would have to listen to the FX15 myself before supporting your claim. Maybe someday when it hits the 40% off mark, I may give it a go. And it will on AliExpress. :hourglass_flowing_sand:

I always aim in the long run.

Mega5-EST 7th anniversary is your best bet. Smokes the DUNU and competes with many 1K-2K IEMs

Didn't hear Mega5 EST 7TH.. but Dunu Sa6MK2 is special iem, I am a headphone guy using HD800S, DT1990 Pro, LCD2 2021 and this iem really gives it all, big stage, great details and bass impact amazed that 6BA only can do that. Not sure for FA19 but with 1000 is in a game with Thieaudio Monarch MK3..

I also prefer the Mega5 EST to my OG Monarch and Monarch MKIII. Would love to compare it to FA19 as well when available to me.

I love these vented BA woofers in any IEM. Even if the amount of bass is modest, they still make the bass feel “bouncy” and nice.

4 vented BA woofers in FA19 reminds me of the driver topology of U12t.
