yep, had mine since August 2020 and they have been flawless (still floored by their wood instrument presentation)

i don’t mean to discount palestofwhite’s experience at all, but thought i’d offer a second positive opinion on build quality and sound. maybe its a batch thing, idk

"wood instrument presentation" is a great description - lovely analogue, warm timbre. Downside is fit for my ears. Have ordered some fins and hoping they help keep the buggers in!

Hi everyone :)

I just posted my video review about EM5, with B-Roll scenes and all the fluff I include with my best viddys :)

Hope it is fun to watch, and I try to explain a bit what they do best and why you'd want to go for them, so I hope it helps you decide whether they will be the one for you or not :)

After the hassle of getting a working unit, I have to agree that they are one of the best sounding earbuds I own, especially the bass. I would suggest people purchase from credible sources where RMA or exchanges are more accessible.

So far, I like what I'm hearing out of the box and the if I'm not wrong @ClieOS mentioned they get even better after 200 hours of use.

Hi have just read this thread and found it to be very interesting. I also love earbuds and can’t stand the feel of Iem’s in my ear as I have tinnitus and don’t like the pressure, preferring a more open sound. At the moment I only have the Qian 69 which I like the sound of but are obviously not in the same league. Are these really that good? I’m prepared to spend the money if they are , I would be pairing them with Hiby r5 saber.
It’s either these or open back headphones like Akg 712pro or Sennheiser had 599 just wonder how good the Fiio em5 are against them.

Dear friend,

The EM5 uses a 14.2mm beryllium-plated diaphragm dynamic driver specially chosen for its light and thin but also extremely rigid properties, allowing for robust bass and well-extended treble.

The EM5 is 3D printed with skin-friendly resin material certified as IIA grade by the EU. The entire shell is glossy, with great durability and anti-discoloration ability. It is comfortable to wear even for a long time.

Open earbuds are born naturally with a wide soundstage, yet with the shortcoming of bass signals easily exposed. In order to minimize the loss of the bass signals, the EM5, being printed with 3D technology, is designed with acoustic tubes and bass pipes that can greatly keep its independence, to finally lay down the foundation of low frequencies with deeper extension. To acquire better bass performance, it is recommended to couple the EM5 with foam ear tips.

And due to individual preferences, you could read the professional reviews and comparisons, as well as try out by yourself.

awesome review, thx for sharing :)

i got the Clairvoyance a month ago and they truly live up to their hype, absolutely beautiful sound (especially the treble and overall detail). However, when it comes to acoustics and vocals I still reach for the EM5s, nothing I have heard comes close to replacing the organic midrange feel these buds produce, just incredible

How close it EM5 in openness when compared to open back headphones?

My doubt is about the bass. I really like the kick of bass in my in-ear monitors but often they are uncomfortable and you also need the right ear tips. I think I will give them a try. I will use them 99% of the time at home.

Bass is good for an open bud but don't expect miracles.
Proper fitting is of utmost importance.

It's the same case with me. It's often hard work for me to get a proper fit because of my ears. That's why I use headphones most of the time.

EM5 is nice alternative and it seems worth a try.
