Hi there peeps,

Just recieved my Audio Technica ATH-M50. Quite satisfied with the sound, only not that impressed. However, I haven't burned them in yet, and I think that will maybe improve the sound. Very comfortable though and it also seems very durable.

However, I don't think it has that much bass and on my iPhone (which I mostly play my music on) the sound is not that loud. Also, I don't think that there is that much bass coming out of these headphones. Of course, as already stated earlier, haven't burned them in yet.

But however, will after burning these headphones in for about 100 hours with pink/white noise etc. make any difference?

And, shall I buy the FiiO E6 amp with these headphones? Will it make a lot of noticeable differences, concerning the amount of bass? And if it produces more bass and makes the sound louder, will it reduce the quality of the highs and the mids?

So can please anyone tell me their experiences with the usage of the FiiO E6 combo and the Audio Technica ATH-M50 and if burning them in will make a lot of differences?

Thanks for the help!

Best regards,

Whether burn-in is real or not is a debate that has been going on in the audio community much longer than head-fi has existed. Personally, I suspect it is the listener's brain that undergoes "burn-in" not the headphones - but I don't really strongly feel one way or the other.

If you believe your volume is low out of your iphone, then yes, an amp is the obvious first thing to try. The nice thing about the E6 is that it is so cheap that it's worth it to try just to see if it makes any difference. For less than $30, you will know for sure.
