I am thinking of getting a pair of Sennheiser HD25's from Play.com: Play.com (UK) : Sennheiser HD 25 Headphones : Electronics - Free Delivery

I want to run them from my iPhone but am not sure that its powerful enough to drive them. I have been looking at the FiiO E5 amp as a way to boost my output - would this be sufficient to drive the HD25s at a decent volume level?

I have both, but haven't tried pairing them. If you are just looking to boost the volume to adequate listening levels, Im sure the E5 can do it as it can boost the volume on the HD650 to adequate listening levels. For me the HD-25 is not that amp dependent but it will scale up if you amplify it.

The HD-25 is pretty easy to drive, you really don't need an amp to get it to loud levels.

an iPod Touch 2nd generation drives the HD25 very nicely, so I suspect your iPhone will too. The HD25 sounds quite good unamped (and I say that about very very few headphones), so IMO you don't need the E5 to get very good-quality sound from it. Plenty of volume too, unless you like your music much louder than I find comfortable, or have unusually quiet source material.

But in general I think having an amp is always a good thing, so I wouldn't discourage the E5 either.
