Hey Peeps,

My E12 is getting onto about 4 years old now and has put in some solid hours and worked very hard during this time. Lately I feel the input/output jacks might be suffering from too much usage and I can hear slight distortion at times and or the balance becoming uneven. I find if I move the input cable or output cable it helps.

This occurs with multiple headphones and sources so I'm pretty certain is the E12.

So is it work looking at fixing the Amp ? or should I look at just retiring it to the shelf and looking at a newer, better portable ?

Cheers in advance :)

It just depends on how attached you are to the E12. It will likely cost you close to as much as a new A5--if not more--would run you to repair it. An A5 is not a bad replacement for your E12. Plenty of power, lower noise floor than your E12. Personally, I try not to throw money at older electronics gear. I just replace it. But that is just me. It is ultimately your decision how you want to handle it. Good luck. :)

Agreed with serman005, I would recommend you to get a new amp instead of fixing it. There are plenty of amps and amp dac combos in the market which is close to the price of E12. Fiio has plenty of choices :)

Had the E12 and it was a awesome amp and the A5 is next step so no problem stepping up.
