Fiio e11k problems

Hello I'm new here. I bought a fiio e11k yesterday and whenever I flick the bass switch to on, I can't observe any difference. I don't know if my unit is defective or it is just my ears. Tried it using my m50x in my pc and phone. Whenever I flick the bass switch, the song stops for milliseconds. Is that a good indicator that the bass boost is working? Please help! Thanks!

I have older model E11 and I can hear the difference when I use the bass switch.
My gut says your bass switch might be defective.
