I wonder if someone could give me a hand.
I recently purchased a pair of AKG K20 MKII's and am extremely happy with them.
However, since I listen to my music from a portable device (HTC One X) and considering the relatively high impedance of the cans (55 Ohms), I wanted to purchase a small amp to give them a bit more 'oomph'.
I have heard very good things about Fiio so I was going to opt to buy one of their amps.
However I am unsure as to what model to purchase.
I have narrowed it down to the E11, E7 or the E07K and I was wondering which would be the better choice.
Basically I was wondering if someone could help me out with what model would be the best choice.
As long as it can drive my AKG 240's and give them some more volume I'll be happy. I don't know whether amplifiers increase sound quality too but if they do then I'd like to take that into account.
I have heard some people recommend the E7 due to it having something called DAC, however I don't actually know what that is or when it would be useful.
I don't tend to listen to music off my laptop but if the amp could help in that regard then that would be a plus.
As you've probably guessed I'm pretty new to all of this so if you explain please do it in ultra-layman.
Will these amps help drive my AKG's better if they're at 55 ohms?
Will I get some more volume and better quality of one of these amps than off my phone?
Which would be the best choice?
Is this a wise investment?

Thanks in advance.

With the E07K (& older E7) you can use it's USB connection with your laptop, taking advantage of the E07K's DAC and headphone amplifier.
But with the HTC One X chances are you could only use the E07K's amp. (but not DAC).
(DAC - Digital to Analog Converter)

Where as the FiiO E11 is a headphone amplifier only, no DAC.

my k240 mk ii sound much better with E17, connected with ipod.
I am sure that E7 or E11 would enhance sound quqlity of this headphone and this hp can be easily driven by E7 or E11.
