I am about to pull the trigger on a new set of cans. I have pretty much decided on the DT880 250ohm but I want to be sure that my Fiio E07K will have enough juice to drive them well. If not, would I be better off with the DT880 32ohm or the Hifiman HE-400? I had pretty much decided on the HE-400 previously but comfort (I wear phones about 6-8 hours a day,) and build quality turned me away from them and toward the DT880.

Thanks!
Todd

Hi,

Fiio E07K can easily drive DT880 to loud levels with most recordings. (Gain 6dB and volume around 35-40 is definitely loud)

That said, if you pair DT880s with a better amp the sound quality will be noticeable better (Soundstage, dynamics, etc)

I would pick 250 Ohm version over 32 Ohm version.

You could also read about AudioTechnica AD900x. I've read good things about them.

Best Luck!

Excellent. Thanks for the info. A new amp is my next upgrade. Just making sure the fiio will be adequate until then. Thanks again!
