Hello,
I've been following this thread and the updates since I discovered the existence of the DM13 back in september...
I found it to be a nice compromise in between a compact transport for home use and the ultra portable discmans from late 90's/early 2000's.
As for the design I have mixed feelings; I would buy it as a "physical media" reader; this is maybe stupid and useless, but I want to see the disc spinning, but the implementation of the clear version is not totally what I was expecting... and only white body.
To me, you should see either a fraction of the disc (as with my beloved CD100 from 1983) or the full disc (as with moondrop discdream 1 & 2)
The specifications are really nice for the price and I think this product could beat the Shanling ECmini and CR-60 (I use a Shanling EC3 tabletop player that I like a lot)
In my opinion it is also more compact and feels of better build quality than Moondrop's Discdream 1st and 2nd generations.
in the end it is also much cheaper !
But according to the very first user feedback a few posts before, it seems that the firmware/software is not on par with the look/build, and as with lots of newborn products, it is not fully functional, so despite my impatience, I put this on hold for the time being... I do not want to be a beta tester, sorry...
Also, I don't see the point of the "audio ripping" function at 1x... By todays standards this is useless. The best would be to be able to use it as a CD-ROM like drive on USB, and be able to rip in FLAC for example, with a dedicated software. I don't see the point of ripping to WAV files onto a USB stick either... because I don't need wave files but either FLAC or OGG at least, to put onto a DAP.
But this is a secondary feature. If we focus on simple Audio CD playing, I agree with Marlene; it needs to work flawlessly like the good old discmans did, with gapless, even if I don't personnaly care about it... There should be no gaps, skips with clean CDs.
