[FiiO BTR3K] Balanced High-Fidelity Bluetooth Amp(Questionnaire About Upgrading the BTR3K updated in 2023-6-14)

I am looking for a DAC/AMP for my AH-D5200 phones. Not going for expensive Mojo or xDSDs. How about BTR3K, BTR5, IFI Hip Dac, Topping nx4 as a USB Dac? I am leaning towards BTR5 because of its DAC spec.
Both the BTR5 and BTR3k sound great to me. The BTR3k / BTR5 do a great job as an inexpensive replacement for a higher priced AMP/DAC.

Today I tried the SendyAudio Aiva's out on the BTR3k 3.5mm output and it's not enough power to drive the Aiva's - I had to max out the volume and the Aiva's were sounding pretty anemic. It's the first time I've tried such a power demanding device on the BTR3k / BTR5.

The BTR5 3.5mm has more power than the BTR3k and the volume setting doesn't need to be maxed out - but the Aiva's are requiring a much higher volume setting than any other device I've used before now.

The Aiva's have a 4.4mm balanced cable with a 3.5mm pigtail adapter - I'm now looking to get a 4.4mm to 2.5mm adapter so I can try the BTR5 / BTR3k 2.5mm output, I'll update after I give that a try.

BTW, I didn't get the SendyAiva's to use on the BTR3k / BTR5, I have an M15 order that might ship this week. It's fun to be able to listen to the Aiva's driven by the BTR5 and BTR3k while I am waiting for the M15 to arrive with it's 4.4mm "high current, over the ear headphone mode".

Both the BTR5 and BTR3k sound great and are inexpensive, well worth the listening time I've spent with them.

This is just a test of signal quality (as in wireless signal strength), but it should be enough to show how well this thing is constructed to conduct its primary job of getting you away from your source with your favourite pair of earphones/headphones.

Impressed like mad.

Anyone can post a side by side image of the BTR5 vs. btr3k so I can get a sense of relative size? Thanks
Here's a few BTR5 / BTR3k comparison photo's courtesy of Hifigo.com:

A nice size comparison between Blon BL-03's and the BTR3k:

Sorry if this is a silly question but is the BTR3k bluetooth version 5.0 or 4.2? The BTR3 (non 'k') looks like it is 4.2 and the BTR5 is 5.0.

I'm jist not clear on BTR3k.

Its 5.0 -- check the comparision chart below

Nice.. kind of regretting getting the ES100 for $75 on sale yesterday. Oh well. May get the BTR3k in the near future too. or the BTR5. so many choices!

I'll be running it through Galaxy S10 and running low-end Chifi IEM's, if anyone cares to make the decision for me!

If that helps...I'm still waiting my BTR5 I bought end of last Year!

So enjoy your ES100, it will have a long life until you put your hand on the next one.

BTR3K is nice but way too weak for relative low sensitivity and high impedance phones. if you got ES100 for USD 75 you got the best price/performance of them all.

Would BTR3K in wired mode performed better than BTR5 in wireless mode? I want to my iPhone X with relatively efficient IEMs. Cheers

I've received my 2.5mm balanced cables for the SendyAudio Aiva's, and the BTR3k 2.5mm has noticeably less trouble driving them. On 3.5mm it's marginal but on 2.5mm it's much better. The BTR3k is now much better on 2.5mm with these higher power demanding headphones.

The ES100 will make a nice comparison against the BTR5 / BTR3k in the future :)

Howdy all!
I recently got the BTR3K and as much as I want to love it I'm having a bit of an issue w/ noise when music becomes quiet, mostly the issue is occurring w/ higher frequencies, for example piano music playing on low volume or when music fades out at normal/mid volume. The sound is generally some strong fragmentation as if it's beginning to lose connection and dropping the bandwidth.

This is coming from the single end out on two low impedance iems(Oriveti OH500 and Shure se535). I don't have a balanced cable to try(all my toys are elsewhere currently :frowning2: but both of my other bluetooth devices, the Shure BT2 and Fiio BTR1K don't seem to do this.

Is anyone else experiencing this or is my unit potentially faulty?
