[FiiO BTR17/BTR7] True Lossless Bluetooth, Portable Bluetooth DAC and Headphone Amplifier BTR17 Is Officially Released!

Received the BTR17 today and the experience is HORRIBLE!
Its such a mess that it will be even hard to describe the issue but will try.

So the Desktop mode (BTR17 connected to the external power bank) works only via BT.
When i connect the Fiio to the phone via USB to play lossless, the Desktop Mode (still having the BTR connected to the power bank) is bugged as hell. It boosts the volume but only up to 40 volume steps, then it completely stops changing loudness. The when switched to the High Gain, the volume doesnt go down so there is no difference between High Gain and Desktop Mode anymore.
The BTR17 recognizes the actual setting but the volume doesnt work anymore.
I even connected the BTR17 to a different charger and nothing.

Also tried playing through different apps (UAPP, Tidal, Qobuz) and NOTHING.

I did factory reset 2 times and it still didnt solve this weird issue.

May i ask WTH is going on?
As an S23 Ultra User, I have not experienced any of these problems. Can I know which phone you are using? Maybe those who use similar phones will also provide feedback here. The only problem I have is that when I switch to Bluetooth mode on the Btr17, it does not even appear in the Ldac options, even though I had previously connected as Ldac. But when I turn off and on the phone Bluetooth, it immediately connects as Ldac. I am very pleased with the Bluetooth connection speed.

Thank you guys for your responses.

Yes i did update the Fiio OS through Fiio app.
Im using Samsung s20 phone and every other device works with it like a charm.

The BTR17's Desktop mode works flawlessly, with all PEQs settings, no matter if applied trough Fiio app or Wavelet BUT ONLY VIA BT connection.

The problems start when i connect the BTR17 via USB to my phone. PEQ on the Fiio app works but the volume stops increasing after 40 steps, no matter if the Desktop mode is ON or OFF.
So i turn off the PEQ on the Fiio app and try to apply my EQ settings via Wavelet- NO CHANGES to the sound.

So using PEQ on the Fiio app seems to cap the volume over 40 steps and when turned off, the BTR17 doesnt react to the Wavelet EQ.

Im using Sundaras so i need more volume than 40 on the BTR17 due to the negative gain applied to avoid distorions.

Sorry about that, not familiar with wavelet. I have no idea why it wouldn't go over 40 volume wise. I've got sr21 and no problems. I've used uapp, hiby app, and neutron.

I think we need to help the S20 with powerbank overeating. Personally I always use a hub of the Aceele brand, which does not charge the phone, but brings a constant power supply to the dongle. I can get the most out of it. It must be taken into account that the BTR17 in office mode, a planar helmet, will require a lot power, a little too much for a phone alone

This also happens when the BTR17 is connected by cable directly to the socket. I also checked another powerbank and the issue persists.

Just tried to feed the BTR17 from my PC for data and used a wall socket to power it and im getting exactly the same volume limitation (no difference between Low, High gain and Desktop mode). Also tried 2 different settings on the Fiio- PC and Phone, nothing works.

There is a "maximum volume" setting in the settings. Can you check that? If it's at 40, the volume won't go above 40.

Thank you for your review I just want to correct something. In the review you wrote that there is no battery saver mode but there is a setting called "CHG protection". This setting prevents the battery from exceeding 80%.
Ahh yeah, and I even mentioned it in that review. Thanks for catching the error, it's fixed now.

Ok managed to solve this problem by reinstalling the app. Fiio app messed up with the overall gain, now everything works nicely.
I thought that something was wrong with the hardware but fortunately its "only" software.

EDIT:
Fiio app still limits the overall gain, so no use of it.
After unintsalling Fiio app the Wavelet works flawlessly tho and i can apply EQ settings.

Ok Wavelet doesnt work with the BTR17, EQ profiles dont change the sound at all.
Seems like the BTR17 is completely useless for someone who wants to use PEQ.
I had been very critical of the Fiio EQ in the past, but this time, with the BTR17, it works perfectly for me! Maybe reinstall the app and factory reset the device?
