First impressions.
  1. It’s super tiny (as opposed to the impression pictures give).
  2. It’s gorgeous, with or without the case. Has a real premium look and feel.
  3. Worked out of the box. Connected to my iPhone and it showed AAC.
  4. It’s really loud, even on Low Gain and low volume with the Empire Ears Triton.
  5. Paired with the Empire Ears Triton, you have a bass power house, like a subwoofer in your ear !
  6. Volume wheel has no play, unlike some others experienced here. It has a nice tactical and clicky feel. Like a mechanical keyboard.
  7. Buttons on the side have just enough force to press them. They’re not hard and not too soft either to avoid accidental presses.
  8. Display is too bright even on level 2. Out of the box it was set to 3, I had to reduce one notch.
Well done @FiiO in all aspects - portability, functionality, aesthetics, ergonomics, sound quality, price !
A perfect companion for on-the-go ! Who needs a portable DAP !

BTR 17 looks and sounds amazing. All I need is for the volume wheel button to do more and then it is perfection for me. :)

Originally, I wanted to buy ka17 but held back learning how it can drain my s23 ultra phones battery. Since this is same as ka17+bluetooth +built in battery am very eager to try this. Will it suck my s23 ultra's battery too much in usb c mode? I was hoping not because it comes with its own battery. Also, does it get hot like ka17. Wondering if the firmware update fixed the battery drain and heating issue.

I am also thinking about ibasso dc07 pro with my android which has a power efficient chip set design.

My BTR17 doesn't get hot and the battery lasts longer than my BTR15, but I haven't measured it.

Phone mode will not drain your battery. PC Mode on UAC 1.0 may engage charging over USB. UAC 2.0 is incompatible with phones (you need a driver for PC/charge mode over USB).

BT mode, of course doesn't drain your battery, but you might be able to parasitically draw over the USB tether if BT is priority? (it will plug up over USB-C but ignore the data connection and remain on BT)

Either way, your phone battery will be fine. It's not like the BTR7 where it will draw over USB unless you toggle the charge switch off.

The KA17 heats up indeed but not that much at home but I have never used demanding equipment in desktop mode with.As for the DC07 Pro, it remains surprisingly cold in prolonged use and requires very little energy. The DC07 Pro has a softer and more neutral sound than the KA17. The KA17 accentuates the details with its DAC ESS. Which is sometimes desirable with certain intras like Campfire Audio Solaris ... But not the Ara. For them it is an Onix XI1 Alpha which will give really convincing results with a warm tone.In all cases, it's all about symbiosis between the IEMS and the dongle. One thing I noted, the BTR17 is softer in LDAC. With a warmer sound, more bass too, but still quite technical!I sometimes prefer it in LDAC with certain intras and the ARA pass over it. So the BTR17 is a kind of KA17, without any heating problem, wired. In LDAC it is softer, it never heats up and the desktop mode is controlled seized for heating so far.I think FiiO worked on this aspect of the heating, the BTR17 being larger than the KA17, the heat dissipation is also much better I think

FYI for hifigo purchasers. They didn't ship my BTR17. They shipped everything else I ordered, but they could not fullfill my BTR17. This is supposed to be like this based on the e-mail about the order partially shipping, but it is pretty annoying realizing it in the last second. They have not even started the shipment for my DAC/AMP.

I ordered black if anyone is curious. Someone else got blue despite that, and Im pretty sure at this point that it was because they ran out of black.

Did you order from their AliExpress store or the website?

I got my BTR17 from the Soundcolor Audio Color store on Aliexpress and they shipped it right away after I ordered it. Mine is blue.

I ordered my BTR17 from the fiio aliexpress store (since I wanted an actual warranty) on November 12th and I didn’t receive the package until the 30th in Colorado, USA. Fiio sent my BTR17 into the Netherlands where it sat for a week before it got sent to Chicago, IL and onwards…

Just the hifigo website. I guess lot of people order there because they dont want to pay the import taxes by default.
You are in EU. Simply cancel your order and buy it from here - https://hifi-passion.de/FiiO-BTR17/HL02518.2
I got mine from there in 2 days. Official dealer - 2 years warranty as always in the EU.

It’s also available on Amazon.de

You realize that hifigo has it for like 190 eur equivalent in my countrys currency with free shipping and pre-declared taxes right? I would pay ~270 euros if I ordered from there with taxes and shipping. Who the hell pays 50 euros for shipping?! Seriously. No offense.
