Mild inconvenience for what was still an exercise with the BTR7 going into developer mod
HI On samsung phones there is a toggle in bluetooth settings that enables ldac. What I am saying is that even when I select ldac only in the fiio app like others have said. They are getting sbc and not ldac.
We've covered this extensively. Also suggested the best auto switching android app.

Even if it did select LDAC you'd still have to go into developer options and force bestrate at 909/990kbps.

you are missing my entire point :) did you even read? on the BTR7 I do not have to go into the dev options to force anything it connects to ldac with no issue. This is a specific issue only being experienced with the btr17 and has nothing to do with bitrate

There is an issue that is shared with other users where only selecting ldac in the fiio app is forcing sbc and not ldac.

To me its not a big deal but I am confirming that there is an issue that is also being shared by others.
Yeah. I read. I also had a BTR7 for the last 2 years.

The BTR7 while reliably connecting to LDAC everytime still required a manual force to "best audio quality" under DEV options for Samsung Phones. It's the same amount of effort required to go to settings/scroll/choose.

I also shared the same issue. It still does SBC intermittently but 2/3 times it will just default to LDAC. Sure this can be fixed in a future firmware update. However, the "effort" required to double tap the BT drag-down and reselect the device is still faster than scrolling the Dev Option to force 990/Best Audio Quality as before with the BTR7.

Ok but the issue isnt with the btr7... Ive had the btr7 since launch also so not sure what exactly you are trying to say since the issue we are talking about is with the btr17 and is nothing like what you are referencing.
Dude what? I have also had BOTH since launch.

What are you even talking about. I referenced the issues with the 17 and referenced the parallels to the 7 with phone connectivity over the same device. A Galaxy S20 Ultra to a 23 Ultra. The vast majority of time spent with the 23 ultra over BT for this purpose.

No idea what you're on about. I've directly addressed both units, issues, and connectivity numerous times.
As stated, there's still an SBC issue over samsung/android even with LDAC slider engaged, autoswitching app engaged. It's still a 33% fail rate to select LDAC and auto switch to 990 best rate forced with the app engaged.

I don't really understand why the design of the BTR17's separate data and power USB ports, in combination with the desktop mode switch.

If I'm using it on a desktop (like with my Mac), I'm ok to have it wired. In that case, I'd rather be able to plug the data cable in, enable D-mode, and get the extra power. At the moment, the only way I can get D-mode with a single USB connector to my laptop, is also to use Bluetooth (rather than PC mode)? It seems odd that a mode optimised for desktop connection (that requires USB for power) also then uses Bluetooth for data?

Am I misunderstanding it?

It's a major oversight, considering that the KA17 does this just fine.

Maybe it's a way of not cannibalising their KA17 sales, but it ends up hurting BTR17 sales.

This thread is kind of interesting....mainly negative complaints about Fiio`s firm- and software and people throwing sand at each other...not so much positive to say or some more reviews and impressions of the BTR17? I am eagerly waiting for my device...:dt880smile:

It's a great device, zero regrets. You'll love it, specially after a couple of firmware iterations. 0.51 is....half way there

I confirm that it is a unique device.I'm just expecting more rigor on the software side. The first customers of a new product are not beta testers. But if we can quickly solve the problems,It's very good.

They are very conservative with regard to hardware, they postpone releases for very long time to make sure the hardware is solid. And it is!. But software isn't a priority for them and they would probably have missed the holidays season if waited until the software was solid too.

Yes I understand very well. I myself have DAPs which are at least 5 years old and which work very well. M11PRO and M15. The concern is that in my entourage some refused to take the BTR17 because of software problem encountered with the UTWS5 V2 and the KA17.Another with his KA5 too but there it was material it seems to me. And it is unfortunate because I do not say that bad things about BTR17, but we must remain objective for these people who do not know the brand as well and who want to be satisfied, without frustration. But otherwise I use my FiiO products, and when it works, well it works very well and long
