Okay, I understand 😥Imagine how great you could support your own UTWS5, though, and other TWS which do not support LDAC. Is it possible, then, to add aptx Adaptive to the BTA30 Pro?
Aptx Adaptive could not be added for BTA30Pro as well because of the Bluetooth chip limitation. The Aptx HD or Aptx LL codec in BTA30Pro may help instead.

Best regards

Hey there.
I recently purchased a FiiO BTA30 (non-pro) to transmit AptX LL audio from my PC to my FiiO BTR3K. Since my PC only has a 3.5mm Aux-out and doesn't have optical/coaxial out I use the USB input mode of the BTA30. In this mode, the software volume control from Windows/MacOS doesn't work. I know that with the BTA30 Pro, the hardware volume knob works with the USB input, does the BTA30 Pro also support software volume control from USB input? Or is my only option to use an analog to digital converter between my PC and the BTA30/BTA30-Pro?

- Yes. The BTA30Pro does not have the same volume control problem like the BTA30 in USB in, BT TX mode.

@FiiO ?
The V5.22 version could not be installed in Win7, but it has Chinese language support.

Despite the difference in price between this and the Q5s Type C, how does the sound quality compare? For example the bluetooth, USB input, and the Line Out?

I'm assuming the Q5s Type C is suppose to be better because it cost alot more?

Due to individual preferences, you could read the professional reviews and comparisons, as well as try out by yourself. But the Q5s has stopped production now so it may not be easy to find one.

Hello. I just purchased a BTA30 Pro, which arrived today. I reviewed the instructions, connected the unit to my Windows 10 PC via USB, and powered the unit on. The white USB light illuminated. Initially, the status light was a solid red. I switched the unit to TX mode and attempted to enter pairing mode by pressing the C button for several seconds, but nothing happened; the white USB light and red status light remained unchanged. I repeated the step with the D button; again, nothing happened. I tried to power down the unit by holding the C button for more than five seconds. Nothing happened. I attempted a reset by holding both the C and D buttons at the same time for more than five seconds. Again, nothing happened. I repeated all steps using a different USB cable and port on my PC, switching between USB 2.0 and 3.0. This made no difference, although sometimes the status light would be a solid blue instead of red after powering on. I couldn't determine the cause of the color change, and it had no effect on the functionality of the unit.

I checked the output source both in Foobar2000 and JRiver. Both players recognize the BTA, and they will play music files outputting to the device. Since I can't pair a Bluetooth device with the BTA, I switched the unit to DAC mode and connected its RCA outputs to my Asgard to see if any sound signal is coming through (I was sure to adjust the BTA's volume knob). I got nothing.

Aside from the fact the BTA turns on and my PC's players recognize it, the unit has zero practical functionality at this point. I'm thinking I've got a brick that needs to be returned for a replacement, but I thought I'd check here first to see if there is something I'm missing. I looked over the Quick Start guide, as well as the FAQs on the FIIO website, but nothing addresses the problem I'm having. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Would you mind showing a small video to us via support@fiio.com? And if you connect to the usb power supply instead of the computer for try, will you get the same issue?

Thanks for your suggestion. I connected the BTA30 Pro to my Anker charging hub, and it entered pairing mode immediately upon powering on. I was then able to pair my BTR5 2021 without a problem. I then powered everything down, reconnected the BTA to my PC, and it's now working fine in TX mode. I'm a bit mystified why the power supply from my PC appears not to have been adequate to get the BTA to pair, but is able to power it as a transmitter. Regardless, I'm glad the solution was so simple. So far, I'm really enjoying the BTA30 Pro in tandem with the BTR5 2021. They're a great wireless "stack."

Since everything is working now, I won't bother submitting a video, but thanks for the offer.

Cheers!

Hi, I own the BTA30 and I use it to transmit bluetooth audio from my PC to a couple of bluetooth headphones, is it worth and upgrade to BTA30 pro in terms of sound quality? Thank you so much.
I don't have the BTA30 (only the Pro), so I can't compare them. However, a number of reviews have been written on the Pro, including this one (https://headfonics.com/fiio-bta30-pro-review/), which does a nice job of comparing the changes from the earlier version. A lot of the advantages to upgrading will depend on how you connect to your PC, and the capability of your headphones. For instance, the BTA30 Pro enables LDAC transmission via a USB connection, which the BTA30 does not. If you want more information, just do a search for FIIO BTA30 Pro review.

Hi,

I have found this issue with all three of the following use cases:
1) Music with high dynamic range. If you keep the volume at acceptable levels for the loud partes, the very quiet parts get cut off. Increasing the volume so the quiet parts are above the noise gate threshhold works obviously, but then the loud parts are painfully loud. One of the reasons why this issue might not have come up yet is because I tend to listen to a lot of music at night when my room is completely silent and therefore I can listen to it at low volume levels, what seems to be causing the issue for the BTA30 Pro.
2) Youtube videos of people walking at night. Being able to hear the footsteps, the wind and all the other ambient noises makes those videos for me and the noise gate cuts out most of it.
3) Streams on Twitch where the streamer has the background music of the game he is playing on low volume. You can hear the BGM in the background whenever the streamer speaks, but when the streamer is silent the noise gate kicks in and there is complete silence as the BGM gets cut off.

I am certain that it is not due to other interference, as I can replicate the issue simply by adjusting the volume slider in the aforementioned youtube videos. With higher volume, the noise gate does not kick in, slightly lower volume and it is present again.

Also, I have found a way to circumvent the issue for now, but I don't really consider this a long term fix: By playing an inaudible sine wave at 10Hz at sufficient volume, I can trick the BTA30Pro to not actiate the noise gate. I tested this method first by playing the sine wave simply from another youtube video. Afterwards, I switched to a program called SoundKeeper to automate this. For anyone else with this issue that wants to try this, I have used the sine wave stream option with 10Hz frequency and 50% amplitude.

Especially because of the work around mentioned above, I am certain that it has to be due the same power saving function / noise gate a lot of other bluetooth transmitters have implemented as well. Creating "artifical volume" for a lack of better words at an inaudible frequency would not solve the issue otherwise.
Hi RoyKea,

Sorry I'm late to the party. I noticed the same issue you described the other night while watching The Witcher S02E01 with the BTA30 pro and my iFi Go blu. I had the adjustable volume knob at around 80%

The parts of the show where it was night and they were in the forest with low music and low talking dialogue it was very obvious to me. The low music would cut out whenever noone was talking, and resume when someone spoke. This was the first time I noticed this issue... And wasn't sure if it was my go Blu or the BTA30... Then I remembered your post.

I did some experimenting and found that the problem went away when I changed the volume knob to max. The problem returned when I lowered the volume on the BTA30. For me this isn't a problem, since my go Blu has its own device volume, but I could see this as annoying to those who rely on that knob to control max volume.

I don't know if the problem exists when in RX mode, but definitely TX.

Also note, I am running the latest Bluetooth firmware and XMOS.

Hope this helps,
Mark

Anyone successfully connecting BTA30 pro in TX mode with PS4/PS5 through optical (PS5 using HDMI audio extractor)?
I want to know if LDAC would have latency issue (lip-sync problem/audio delay) for gaming.
Thank you.

In my current setup I have optical coming from my TV to the BTA30 Pro. Any HDMI audio routed to my TV also gets sent to the BTA30 Pro, even though my AVR does the speaker system. The only issue I've had was having to set my receiver to convert 5.1 signals to stereo, as the BTA30 only does two channel as far as I can tell. I've had it work with my FireTV Stick, PS4, and Switch.

As for latency, if your receiving device supports APTX LL you shouldn't have any problem. I use it to watch shows and don't notice lip-sync issues. You will likely notice it on APTX HD or LDAC though.
