[FiiO BTA30Pro] Create a Comprehensive Home Bluetooth System, FiiO's High Fidelity Bluetooth Transceiver BTA30 Pro!

Dear friend,

Since a pairing is needed to be confirmed when using the M11Pro as Bluetooth receiver, it could not be compatible with the BTA30Pro when BTA30Pro is in TX mode.
We did not test the BTA30Pro with the PS4. But according to the feedback from a reviewer, the BTA30Pro could work with PS5 via USB connection:

Best regards
Man thats a bummer about pairing it with the m11pro. As for the PS4 I was just going to run it through the optical cable

Do you know if I would be able to pair the BTA30Pro TX mode to a BTR5 or am I still running into the same issue? Seems like purplesun is able to somewhat connect to the Q5K, which gives me some hope about being able to use my headphones with the BTA30pro otherwise I'm gonna have to return it

Yes, you could connect the BTA30Pro to BTR5 when it is in TX mode.

Best regards

That seems silly that simple devices would connect easily but a more advanced device has issue, is this an issue with android or do you think your engineers would be able to work on this issue?

Seems like the device advertised can connect to any Bluetooth device but this obviously isn't true. Its a shame because i was actually interested in the original BTA30 for a while but recently decided to get one and saw the pro model available assuming it's an upgrade. It certainly is on paper but I think you should be able to connect all the FiiO devices to each other. It's not like Bluetooth is some brand new thing either.

I'd rather not buy another device just to make this one work

You may try to clear the pairing for both devices and reconnect to see whether it helps? We will also report your feedback to the engineer for assessing.
Am not too fussed about not connecting to Fiio FW1 as I won't be using it with BTA30 Pro. So far, the most consistent re-connecting device is Hiby WH2 which uses the AB1565 chipset. Have only used BTA30 pro in TX mode so far. Not tried the RX mode yet. It hangs occasionally but, so far, it's reasonably usable for an early firmware release. Have also paired & connected to an iLoud Micro Monitor - no problem encountered.

The engineer has learned this compatibility problem and we will try to report to them again to check again. But we could not promise whether it could be supported currently.

Why Would We Develop BTA30 Pro?--From @FiiO Willson

In early December 2020, shortly after the BTA30 was released, there was already a crisis in chip supply. Considering the material preparation and sales situations at that time, it was expected that the BTA30 could only be sold until June 2021.

After a primary discussion, we roughly held on to two solutions.

Solution 1:
Same features, changed DAC: the advantage of this solution was that it required fewer R&D resources and can be brought to market quickly.

Solution 2:

It was to improve some functions of the previous BTA30 and make a more perfect product. However, it needed to change many parts and we could not expect the time to market. It would probably be out of stock for at least 2 months.

Later, after several rounds of evaluation and discussion, we decided to take the second solution.
Although it would be out of stock for a couple of months, it has supplemented the obvious shortcomings of the product, making for more complete functions and better using experience.

Compared with the BTA30, the BTA30 Pro comes with new functions as follows.
1. Added the USB processing chip XMOS, which supports USB lossless decoding (PCM is supported from the previous 48k/16bit to now 384k/24bit).

2. As USB decoding capability becomes stronger, the LDAC Bluetooth transmission is also supported under USB input.

3. Upgraded DSP chip, DSD support has been upgraded from DSD64 to DSD256.

4. Added one-button switching to aptX Low Latency, achieving a lower latency game experience.

In addition, we have also paid attention to the problems that many BTA30 users have encountered, and made improvements, such as:
1. Some users complained that it was inconvenient to switch inputs in transmission mode. So we added a new one-button switching between input sources function, and corresponding indicator lights.
Willson微博-BTA30 Pro2835.png

2. Some users said that it was too complicated when pairing with 2 Bluetooth headphones. So we separated the pairing by two paring buttons. One button is for one pair of headphones which features corresponding indicator lights.

3. Some users want the Bypass mode, so that they can connect the device to a TV through optical input and then output signals through Bluetooth headphones. After discussion, we decided to take this function in.
Willson微博-BTA30 Pro3280.png

This Bypass mode allows you to watch any program anytime with your headphones yet with no interruptions to others. It is very convenient.

The current BTA30 Pro has the most complete functions and supports the most Bluetooth formats. It can be said that it has become a true "Bluetooth monster". We also believe that it will have better performance than the BTA30 on the market.

So you can't connect the BTA30 Pro in transmit mode to the M11 Pro in "bluetooth decoding amp mode" via LDAC? That's a real bummer.

Love my BTA30, but I'll wait for AAC transmission or AptX Adaptive support to upgrade.
Echo this sentiment, really need AAC transmission support for current headphones. AptX Adaptive would be nice to be more future proof, but without AAC transmission I can't adopt without replacing my existing headphones.

Posted my question in a recommendations thread here, but really curious why there is such a dirth of AAC transmitters on the market.

Seem to remember there was not enough space on the chip to have all the codecs so they left it out for the TX but it does support it for RX.

For me as a Windows (which does support it now)/Android user I have no real love/need for AAC but I think it should be there.

I caved in and ordered the newer PRO version.

Maybe due to the AAC licensing fees?

^^ They already have paid for it so could use it as the cost per device is small after the big upfront payment for most Codecs, again the REP stated a while back it was due to lack of space but next gen will have more.

Yeah it kinda knocked the wind out of my sails over this device, that was gonna be how I'd primarily use it. Unless FiiO can come up with a fix in the next few weeks I'm just gonna return it. Seems the only realistic way is getting a btr5/q5k instead of trying with my m11 which just means I'd have to spend more money. You'd think there'd be no issues connecting to their own branded BT devices

Well, one question would be which device is the problem? Sounds like maybe the M11 Pro needs an update if it works on BTR5 and other receivers.
