I had thought the am3e was to have both 4.4mm and 2.5mm balanced outlets, is that one replaced by this module?

Why not just produce more units of the AM3C, instead of releasing the AM3D, since they are both identical? Marketing?

The AM3C is the model that specially supply to Japanese market, and the AM3D is the official type which just differ in the name.
