Dear,
 
I just bought a second hand Fiio Alpen 2 E17K and I do not manage to make it work trough USB on my Mac Book Pro (El captain 10.11.6).
 
The device simply does not appear in the output devices of the sound panel.
I tried to change the USB cable and restart the mac.
It did not help.
 
I am sure that some of you have great ideas to help me solve this.

Hi, I realize it's four years later, but I found this post while trying to get an Alpen 2 to show on my Mac. Turns out, the problem is the TYPE of USB cable. You need one that will pass data and charge. Once I found a proper cable, I was able to get the Fiio Alpen 2 to work just fine. Shows up as a selection under SOUND now.
