FIFA bans Beats headphones from World Cup matches

After Brazilian star Neymar is seen donning a pair of colorful Beats headphones, soccer's governing body makes it clear that Sony is the games' official sponsor.

Wait - aren't world cup players professionals? That's really a pretty dumb thing for FIFA to do. Everyone makes a lot more money if they have both an "official headphone of FIFA" and each star player also has their own endorsements. FIFA shouldn't have to make exclusive agreements like that with any company - the companies should all be standing in line to get even a small piece of the World Cup.

I posted it already but just to be sure:

The World cup is only possible thanks to the Sponsors, whether their product is good or bad (Budweiser I'm looking at you) participants have to use what they get and wearing something else is almost offensive to some extend for those who are actually paying for the event itself.
Beats were banned during the London Olympics for the same reason, in fact any other brand or product going against sponsors was without a doubt banned as well.
Neymar didn't use their headphones because he wanted: How much money you think Beats paid Neymar and his dad for the TV ads and to be seen wearing Beats everywhere during the world cup?

Even if a product doesn't go against their sponsors, no team is allowed to wear any visible brand during the games, practices and press conferences. To give you an example: How many player do you see wearing sunglasses? (which are far more useful than headphones) Is FIFA against ray-ban or Oakley?

I'm sorry - I just think it's a ludicrous situation, and it shows just how f'd-up Marketing has made sports. The players expect to get paid just for being observed. The sponsors expect to own every possible item shown on television. The league is a giant corporate entity run by suits. Everyone is trying to control every aspect of every possible way to squeeze a freaking penny out of the sport. It makes me sad.
