Last year around this time of year, the headphones forum was packed with 200+ viewers and there were consistently over 1000 members online. It seems that these numbers have dropped significantly. What gives?

There are loads of members I haven't seen around at all since the outage, despite being active just before it.

I'm sure the outage hurt quite a bit. However, there's so much going on this time of year that a lot of people are busy with other things.

If Sennheiser drops a new flagship in January, expect it to pick up here. A lot of people will come out of the woodwork to read up on it.

It's the outage. Forums are addictive, a 2 week outage forces people to get forum-sober. Many haven't returned yet.

I know it took me a good few weeks after the outage to visit and post regularly again.

This forum has been a bit dull lately, I've noticed.

This happens. This hobby can get cyclical and with some established members moving on (to more listening and less posting) while newer members come in and if they don't use the search function, regurgitate the same questions/theories/ideas.

What really pushes the envelope is, of course, new product releases. Right now the portable world is really on fire. New IEM's are being released at record rates, not to mention portable amps, awesome DAPs and the list goes on and on. In the new year, this place will be ablaze with reviews about the Pico and Predator. The Westone 3's are on the very near horizon, their customs too, UE's has their 11's thrown in the mix. If Sennheiser releases an HD700 this year, we'll get a wonderful influx of threads about them too.

The crash of '07 definitely hurt. I know it took me a while to go forum nuts again.

cheers

When I scroll down the list of threads in the Members Forum I see:
What are you eating right now?
What are you drinking right now?
What are you (you fill it in) right now?

Can some one please post a topic that we want to talk about.

Several months ago their was a heated thread about ALO and the quality of their products. I'm not here to fan that flame. I have no first hand knowledge that goes in either direction but....that was the last interesting thread that I read. Many members chimed in.

I couldn't agree more.

I am sick of these boring threads that require no thinking or discussion and sharing of opinions/ext..

They are mostly stupid question threads that require no more than a few words to reply too and you don't even bother reading more than a few replies because you realize how boring this is and you could be doing something better with your time than thinking about if you look older or younger or which clam chowder is the best.

This could be a big reason, along with the down time, as to why people don't bother coming here like they used to- I guess they just aren't rushing over here to rate the last movie they saw...

The crash has made me come here less often for some reason too. I always come back though

It has been pretty dull lately. I thought it might have something to do with the crash, but the numbers of people here would say otherwise. My guess is some of the members during the crash have re-discovered other hobbies, and there is just an influx of new members that don't have much to say just yet.

I also realized that I've been able to try pretty much all the headphones out there that I've wanted to try, and there really hasn't been anything new and exciting lately in full-size headphones. I really hope the HD700s will change that, and competitors will release something new as well to compete.
