That just about says it all. My Sony SCD-C333ES has been floating around in the netherworld for the past two days and may be delivered on Monday! I believe that drivers who fail to make the cut at UPS are hired by FedEx ground

A guy I know (actually a guy a guy I know knows

) says that UPS drivers get paid the most (actually pretty good money), while FedEx drivers don't get nearly as much (or as good benefits). So perhaps what you say, morphsci, is quite true.

Hmm, I always have more trouble with UPS. But the WORST BY FAR is USPS an dI think you all know that. I have had to pull an insurance claim on a lost package now.... Oh well... (I actually make a few bucks

If you are ever shipping big things avoid american freightways... They are total ********. Things like slamming doors in our face, demanding payment when payment has already been given and refusing to deliver because of it. COming to our door and telling us we need to find a way to bring the stuff down to our house because they cant carry it... SO HOW THE HELL DO WE CARRY IT??? They are a bunch of stupid *****s please avoid them.

American Freightways? Never heard of them...

Hmm I guess I am a lucky one, I've had no bad luck with UPS, USPS, and FedEex... just got my Straightwire portable cable in 2 days from headroom via FedEx, no problems... got my CHA47 via USPS, no problems (the post office is a mile away from me so it is really convinent). Recieved things from UPS, CODs even, no problems at all... Everything I sent was sent properly and recieved and such...

Anyways the point is... Haha!

The only experience I ca think of that we've had is when we ordered this Dell computer I'm on right now 5 years ago for christmas. We couldn't order it until about 5 days b4 christmas and UPS said we wouldn't be able to get it until a few days after christmas, but then like 2 days before christmas they called up to get directions to our house (we live way out in the sticks) and they showed up that day with our computer in perfect condition.

MOst of my problems have been with FedexGround as well, worse than USPS and much worse than UPS. Fedex made all their money on their air service, they just don't seem to have the truck thing down at all.

UPS is expensive for anything but ground(recent strike probably had something to do with it). UPS ground deadline is "whenever it gets there"; since they don't specify a time, they are allowed to take as long as they want.

FedEx was nice because they offered a cheap 3-day, which always gets to you in 3 business days. But they changed that to 3-4 day. Not bad, but not great. you now lack the certainty.

USPS priority has always been rather speedy for me, and its really cheap, too. Most of the time I'd choose USPS for cost reasons.

I think it is like airlines. Everybody has different experiences. I personally had never any trouble with USPS, and they don't force me to be home and wait for them or to piss off the mail room where I work, and last year they even delivered a non-priority international package from a friend to me on CHRISTMAS DAY.

Legoman.

Just make sure whatever happens is big enough to land on all the news channels... I hate flipping between news shows...
