I was thinking we have seperate, persistent forums for magazine length reviews of the headphones, amps etc. that we use to appreciate music but we don't have one for music itself... That seems odd to me.

Personally I love reading extensive reviews of albums, but I've found the quality of reviews on the internet to be lacking. On the other hand, people post quality mini-reviews on head-fi regularly. That got me to thinking, maybe we should have a seperate forum for stickied album reviews.

This would not only provide a persistent list of album reviews but might encourage the community to generate even more, detailed album reviews.

What do you think?

Great idea Falcon P! I'd love to see a resource for concert reviews. If we get this sub-section up and running, they should definitely be included.

lol... so true USC.

I think it would be great. I know I've wanted to post a couple of longish reviews of CDs I recently bought, but I haven't wanted to go to the trouble because, after a day or two, the post would disappear into the abyss of the archives, probably never to be seen again. If there were a persistent resource, I would definitely be more likely to take the time to write a full review instead of a simple "This album is good because I like it." style post.

So what does the rest of the music forum think? Any mods want to weigh in on the feasibility of this?

Great idea! I'm always amazed at the great music you guys have recommended and introduced me to. Putting great reviews in one place would really make things easier.

This new forum would be moderated like all the other featured review subforums, right?

I support this, as long it is like all the other full-length review forums here (only moderators can put reviews in them).

I think that the current system for "Featured" forums would work great for the new sub-forum. Assuming, that is, that the mods don't mind the extra work.

Well, the response has been pretty positive thus far... anyone else have any ideas/suggestions on this? If support for this keeps growing, we should contact a mod on this to see what their take is.

bump for the afternoon people.

Well we are up to ten people in support... if that number goes up much more I think we should definitely look into this.

I'd like to see some music reviews worthy of being "featured" before there is even a need for such a forum.

To that end, I will be posting a review in the next week or so.

I think that if this forum is made, many people will be inspired to write reviews, which would be great.

I've been gathering concert reviews that I've written over the previous two years. So far I've found five and there are more.

I'll post these reviews on this forum after some trimming and editing.

That's my feeling too. Why spend several hours writing a long, indepth review of an album when you know it will disappear into the archives, probably never to be read again? If, on the other hand, there is a sub-category where you know it will be seen, I think you have more of an incentive.

Here's a thought, if we have mutliple reviews of the same album, maybe they should all be in the same thread. I wonder how hard that would be to do on the mod end?
