Apparently the electrostatic drivers are very power hungry and were not tuned properly. I was very upset hearing the Roland initially but it's one of my favorites now after proper equalization.
is the deezer eq usable? im going to use that to test them, hiby r5. or maybe MESB, hmm

my thoughts after couple days of use of the paladins, La Hire and Lancelot are both good, but the Roland is way too flat for my taste, the treble is missing, it cant be just me feeling the Roland is just "wrong"

Are you maybe talking about the Fearless Audio Start?
The product page says it adopts a 10-millimeter dynamic driver with a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) diaphragm

You can find it if you search Fearless Audio Start on aliexpress!

To return to topic... I've been very impressed by my new pair of S8Z. Their intense presentation and great macrodynamics remind me of my Focal Clear, strange as that is. Love the crazy detail these put out!

S8F vs S8Z

The graph looks almost exactly like what I expected, based on comparisons thus far.

Thanks for posting those. That S8Z graph wasn't around when I was deciding on my purchase, so I ended up relying on the 8F graph and the impressions of a few people. Looks very close to what I hear, except for that post 8k dip. I hear that as being maybe 10 db higher than the graph shows (speaking very broadly of that region). I wonder if that difference is a result of tip selection or insertion depth, as I've noticed both have a big effect on the sound of these earphones.
