I'd say in practice, the S8 Pro is close to a perfect stage monitor. I wouldn't use it for mixing, but for any other monitoring scenario it's awesome.
That "weird dip" isn't apparent in practice. There's a
very slight recession in the midranges that separate the sub bass from vocals. If anything the very upper reaches of the treble are slightly smoother than you might prefer for critical listening (what HBB calls micro details), but it's perfect for longer-term fatigue-free listening and, again, stage use. There's absolutely nothing forward anywhere about the S8P. If you're looking for fun, the S8F or S6 RUI are likely more your thing.
