Who is your favorite conductor who has performed within the last 50 years lets say?

I have to lean to Solti with the CSO, but I also enjoy Von Karajan's interpretations with the Berlin Philharmonic.

I'm listening to this right now and it never ceases to amaze me. The orchestra is superb, the recording is excellent, the direction is inspired, and Mendelssohn is one of my dark horse favorites.

When you say modern, I thought you meant currently modern; as in alive. Very difficult to single out one.

Modern Living: Neeme Jarvi
Modern not living: Fritz Reiner

Sorry, I had edited it this morning to say has performed within 50 years, and there were other posts that have disappeared.
