what does it say about me that most of my favorite lines in songs are just dumb angry stuff? ^_^ like when reading the last Radiohead quote, I immediately thought of:
-"when I am king, you will be first against the wall. with your opinion which is of no consequeeeeeence aaaaaat aaaaaallllllll".
nothing clever, no grandiose poetry, just pure direct expression of "love" for another human being. am I a monster? ^_^

That quite possibly is the biggest reason to love music.... Each persons own interpretation of the lyrics {message?} can make it seem that the song was made to directly speak to ones self.

Storytellers only enjoy the part of life that they can use
I got some sentimental fingers and they're holding on to you
I gotta keep that stuff in alcohol
Yeah keep it there for health
'Cause your right hand feels for money
But your left hand feels for wealth

As a father of two girls I am partial to

'Cause if they catch you in the back seat
Trying to pick her locks
They're gonna send you back to mother
In a cardboard box

Let's try this again … from another Great Depression tale:

Brown Eyed Girl, words by Robert Hunter.

"In 1920, when he stepped to the bar,
He drank to the dregs of the whiskey bar.
In 1930, when the Wall caved in,
He paid his way selling red-eye gin."

"PERCZ"- Denzel Curry criticizing contemporary rappers:

With these dumbass n****s, and they don't say schit
Sound like "Durr, durr, durr", you like "Oh, that's lit"

Excellent commentary on a lot of new rappers and their lyrical content (or lack thereof).
