Favorite closed headphone

For me, that would be the Beyerdynamic DT 250. I currently have the 80 Ohm version, but will be swapping them for the somewhat better 250 Ohm version this week.

The HD280s because I never had high quality closed headphones, nor open. I like to flaunt them outside in public and look like a total dork, with my equally bulky Cowon A2...haha

The best of all time? I'd say it's a tossup between the AudioTechnica L3000 and the Sony R10.

For more practical price ranges, I'd say W5000. For even more practical price ranges DT770 or A900 or HD280.

Seconded. I've have had mine for nearly 3 years and they ended my quest for my preferred home headphone. They are very sensitive to amp pairings and I feel they show system upgrades better than the Sennheiser HD600. They are also very versatile and sound great with nearly anything I throw at them music-wise, while rewarding good recordings and showing less-than-stellar recordings. I have heard these on a variety of amps, including a Singlepower Maestro, and am amazed at how well these scale for supposed "mid-fi" cans. They do spectacularly out of my Singlepower PPX3. I know my set will be in my possession for many more years to come, even if I do manage to find another set of home cans I like as much or even more. They aren't just good closed cans, they are good cans period.

Out of the closed cans I have heard, the absolute best would be the Sony MDR-R10, even if it isn't quite my cup-of-tea. When paired with top-shelf amps it doesn't make you wonder at all why it has been considered by more than a few to be the best set of dynamic cans ever produced. Kind of makes me sad to think that there may never be another set of cans produced that are quite like it.
