As my grandfather used to say, "Never trust anything with wheels on it, dagnabit!" Ironically, he was killed in a cross-country skiing accident.

Just buy her the doll, dear, she's packing!

Is it OK that I had a good laugh at both?

Just because he took the picture while carrying a gun doesn't necessarily mean he skateboards with it. (And even if he does... you can still get mugged while skateboarding, I've seen it happen.)

Let's keep this thread on topic, please.

It's all about the gnarly fall, folks.

Ouch, that looks like it will leave a mark.

I wonder what was going through his head when his feet first left the skateboard and as he was falling to the ground...

Watching from a different angle, he actually landed on his feet before the rest of his body came pounding down. Luckily he wasn't standing when he hit otherwise his knees would've ended up in his chest. I'm still surprised he was able to walk away like it was nothing.

That is why I quit skating around 22 or so. Well not because I was crashing off Sears' Tower size half pipes. It gets old beating up your body after while. All the reason to marvel at these guys' balls or insanity.

Old Matt Hoffman bit it tonight. I feel for that guy - 35 years old...31 here and I couldn't imagine.

Thanks for the link; watched some the X tonight. It brought back a-lot of memories. Maybe I should of stuck with it because those guys' wives are hawt.

Looked more like he was limping away, with the help of two other guys. He definitely was going straight to the hospital to be checked out. Adrenaline rush can definitely mask a serious injury. Sounds like he made out OK, though.

I think if I ever sustained a fall like that, my reaction would definitely make his look like he walked away like it was nothing

Why did this thread become about guns? Someone freaked out about a gun in my wasteband? Gimme a break. I didn't even give it a thought. In that picture I was cleaning up to go to work.

I don't skate 'seriously' or go out bombing with anything on me at all (even keys are too dangerous). But I definitely pack if I'm in transportation mode out to the store or something. And yes, I am proud of my road rash. And no, I'm not a teenager, I'm a college graduate.

To the skateboarders, how would you handle a fall like that? Any "proper" falling technique you follow?

He did the perfect thing.

I know these guys are experts at landing falls, but I cant help but think it would be better to let the feet take the initial impact than the spine. Maybe a roll of some sort, despite the lack of forward momentum. Even with the downward momentum, I would think a roll would disperse the impact better. In any case, angels were on his side that time (no pun intended).
