This is one of those bands that I don't own any of their albums, or listen much to their music. But... They were way ahead of their time and from what I have heard I am quite impressed.

I think though, they are victims of the "Van Halen" Syndrome. Basically all of the crap sound of rock in recent years(The Limp B.I.Z.K.I.T.,Linkin Park) are from kids that grew up listening to bands like Faith no More and emulating their sound. Now when people listen to Faith No More they don't hear the originality and ground breaking sound of the early 90s they hear more of the same crap rock they have been subjected to lately.
Ala Van Halen and subsequent 80s hair bands.

Indeed Faith No More and the other Mike Patton project, MR Bungle, were just incredible when they came out. I alienated friends with the song Travolta

Now there's so much crap that sounds sorta like both of those bands, but with no originality. No problem with enjoying them though.

Definitely not a guilty pleasure! The Real Thing is quite a stellar album, although i lost interest in the band due to the what was coming out of Seattle soon after, i still listen to that particular album every so often.

Faith No More is one of the greats. For me, their album "Angel Dust" was the pinnacle of their ingenuity, followed very closely by "King For A Day...Fool For A Lifetime". By the time their fourth and final album "Album Of The Year" (four with Mike Patton), it seemed that they had lost a signicant step, probably very indicative of their breakup shortly thereafter. Patton's many side projects just don't have the same quality as FNM, and his solo album (albums?) is simply ridiculous.

Good band. I wouldn't buy any individual albums but they have a great best of out there...

Surprisingly good band. Mr. Patton is a vocal acrobat, but even their early albums with Chuck Mosley are quite good. Of the Patton-era, my favourites are Angel Dust and The Real Thing.

Thought I'd wake up this old thread. I've been listening to a lot of Mike Patton stuff lately - Tomahawk and Fantomas, man this guy is busy!
Anyway, I dug back into some old FNM CD's that I hadn't heard for a long time, it's nice to hear them on a decent rig. I agree with the above posters about The Real Thing and Angel Dust, these albums were way ahead of their time.
