hi guys,

Just been havin a look at the er6's and they look pretty much like the ex70's. Just wondering if any one has a spec sheet for the ex70's so i can compare impedance etc.

Or even better yet a nice review ( including how easy they are to drive, as im stuck with the output from my MZ-N1)

You DO know that the ER6 is supposed to be in another league from the EX70 don't you?

The two really can't be compared. The Etymotics are put through way more quality control hell then the EX70s are, and the drivers are designed and built to much, much more rigid standards. The Etymotics as a result pull out much, much further ahead then the EX70s. I think I might've accidentally left my EX70s where the rabid dogs could find it.

hmm the er6 doo look pretty sweet, how do they compare comfort wise ??


btw looks like they will be much easier to drive too

ANSWER: It depends. I found the ER-6 with silicone tips to be too uncomfortable overall, and I found the sound of the ER-6 to be flat and unenergetic. I returned them to Headroom. I have the ER-70, and though they are midly more comfortable, their screetchy treble and bloated bass make for an unpleasant listening experience.

I have not tried the ER-6 with the recently released foam tips, and adding my more patient listening ear, I think the ER-6 would be a good choice for me in the future. It may be the right choice for you too.

would it be worth the extra money to pickup some er-4p's nistead of the er6's ??

The ER6's have foam tips too...

Really, I have the EX70's, and I don't like them.. they dont go REMOTELY deep enough, don't have enough durability, don't have that really detailed sound that is natural, have harsh highs, and boomy bass, and dont isolate a lot, IMO.

ER6 would fix all of this, giving you blissful accuracy...

I bought the EX70 and ER6. Hands down, the ER6 is superior in construction. My EX70 developed imbalanced volumes between the left and right drivers after two months of use. The ER6 sounds overall more even to me. I had issues with the EX70's overemphasized bass and tinny treble.

Again, you get what you pay for in this case.

The ety's would be replacing my current ex70's

my source is a Sony Mz-N1 MDR ( sounds great )

im sure i can get er4's cheaper than $700 AUD !!

headroom charge $265 $US which is $530 $AUST
Then there is cost of paying Headroom $20 AUST
The headroom wont tick the "ITS A GIFT " Box , so you will have to pay Australian Duty which can be minimum $130

thats $530+$20+$130= $680

there was a post some months back probably when the dollar was bad I remember the guy saying that it cost all up $720 $AUST

I don't consider the ex70's an audiophile headphone. I just use them for sound isolation in a gym for exercise, that is ALL they are good for. Bass is ok. But highs are very tinny and yechy. I would never listen to them for any other reason. If I was not so cheap and lazy, I would return them for ER6's.
