i feel you... im thinking about replacing all the speakers in my car again, maybe using a bunch of dynahi boards for the 4 speakers? a behringer eq to try to balance the response a bit... hrmm... lol

no im too lazy/poor, plus im hardly ever in my car to justify such crazyness

I can barley tolerate cds right now. I keep listening to the ones that are mastered really well which is only like 5% of my collection

I have several hybrid sacd's but Im too broke right now to buy a decent player.

I'm having quite the opposite effect. After venturing into hifi I'm starting to listen to songs differently, like a new approach to music in general.

Music will always be music for me. Last time, I was in the car with a couple of friends and the car stereo was really bad. So we just pushed the loudness button, cranked up the volume and rode home with a big smile on our faces.

And I'm still enjoying mp3s a lot. I even burn them on cds to play them in my main system. 192kbs, good enough. El cheapo pop never sounded so good

I can relate to this.
The better my system gets, the more I appreciate the really well done cds and the more the others pale in comparison.
Vinyl is only a little better in this respect; I actually find the mediocre vinyl easier to listen to.

You are easily distracted by the quality of the recording/playback. I've learned to ignore such things but when I don't I'm highly critical.

I find quite the opposite to be the case... I analyse the equipment instead of enjoying the music (Hi-Fi) but sing and dance to CDP or radio in the car.... strange yes but I know a few people who are exactly the same.

One nice thing about driving around in a diesel truck is that radio sound quality is the last thing you worry about. I have XM installed and I enjoy it immensely every day.

I find myself telling people "it sounds good" when visiting and they play music. I figure the last thing most want to hear is that the bass is non existent and the highs are rolled off.

cool.

That means your ears are being trained and the more refine they become the worst low-fi things will sound and then you will be able to hear the differences between hi-fi gear that perhaps were hard for you to hear before.

You are now slowly becoming like a superhero slowly learning he has powers...

or just some poor [beep] who now has to upgrade everything just to be happy.

Sorry about your wallet indeed..HAHAHAhahahahahohoho..

sorry

The biggest difference I notice now is in the car. The music from the cd player sounds muddy and does not have the sharp clarity of my headphone setup. Yeah I know, No Duh! Anyway, I no longer enjoy listening to cds in the car. Looks like I am headed for an auto sound system upgrade.
