Eversolo DMP-A6 Network Streamer/DAC

The latest firmware is v1.3.30. If you go to 'settings' and 'about' you can see your current version. Also, if you tap on the version number, you will be able to download and install the latest version.
To be factually accurate:

Latest production release 1.2.50
Latest beta release 1.3.30

Access to the beta releases requires selecting this at the firmware screen and accepting terms and conditions that come with using betas

Thanks…I over complicated this. Assumed software and firmware were independent. Have updated to v1.3 and setup Apple Music via Services, and all looks great. Have to say, what an incredible job Eversolo has done on the software and the excellent integration of streaming services. Elevates the experience of interacting with music. Lovely job!
They do… only pricing is crazy especially the a10… they started well, now they are starting to loose it

It is not beta anymore. Stable version rolled out 2-3 weeks ago. I don't use beta.

I may be wrong but from what I last saw 1.2.50 (in green) is production and 1.3.30 (yellow) is beta?

I ran the update process from 1.2.50 -> 1.3.30 earlier today via the settings menu on the device. It presented as a normal software update with no mention of beta. 👍🏻

That's an outdated page from 29th September. Stable version rolled out earlier in October. You cannot download a beta fw from the A6 through wi-fi/LAN, only via USB update. Wifi/LAN update is always the official, stable version. Try and it will update your A6 as well.

Like you I use a Cyan2 as external DAC with my A6, great combination and leverages the upsampling for local files feature on the A6. Can't help with the Apple stuff, I don't use that ecosystem.
Great news from you. I am enjoying the A6 SE with LPS for an year like streamer from local and Tidal in a chain with TT2. But after some experience with a Metrum NOS Mini Octave I decided to add some NOS oprion and ordered the CYAN 2 on a bid blind decision. But now you give me big hopes for that chain.

The Cyan2 is the best DAC I have heard full stop. Works very well with the A6, I also use the LPS-A6 power supply upgrade.

So basically what you are saying is that the beta option on the A6 screen is misleading because it will not work OTA? Also the thread in the Zidoo forum only indicates 1.3.30 existing as beta, not as stable version ... I am confused now

That's interesting. Might be something regional? I didn't see this 'beta' screen when I updated to 1.3.30. Have you tried a restart just in case? 1.1.60 is a pretty old fw. What fw does your A6 update to if you tap 'online update' but skip the beta option?

It’s a screen I pulled off the internet. Mine is at 1.3.30 and also allows to select beta versions. I am EU based and my A6 comes from a Dutch dealer

I don't know then, I am also getting a bit confused. :) Maybe I put the beta fw on by mistake? Anyway, I haven't had any issues, so that's good.

Hey, all. Just purchased the DMP A6 and wanted to ask about volume control relative to my amplifier. So, I’m currently using a HeadAmp GS-X MKII and my intention is to use the Eversolo as my dac and streamer. Typically I would max out the volume on the dac and adjust the volume from the amp. I’m currently using a Bifrost 2/64, so adjusting volume is not an option. Is there any problem maxing out or at least raising the volume on the amp significantly and adjusting the amount I need from the DMP A6? I know it is recommended to leave the volume at max on the Eversolo in order for it to be bit perfect, but this would only apply when using an external dac, no? In the situation I intend to use it, i would be operating in the analog domain at that point, would I not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Based on the DMP-A6 manual your interpretation looks correct
- page 18 - "* Set the volume to the maximum when outputting MQA via digital outputs (e.g.: USB or
SPDIF outputs). But there is no need to set the volume to the maximum when MQA is output

from internal DAC through analogue output." <-- it states "MQA", but believe this is generally related to digital output vs. analog output.

You do have a unique opportunity to test all kind of configurations here with and without the Bifrost 2/64, I hope that you do, you know for "science" purposes :)
Look forward to your findings!

Thank you very much for that. I read through the manual last night and wasn’t sure the part of above was relegated to MQA alone or not. You are likely right, though.

The GS-X is an amazing amp but sounds best with more gain added, so being able to tap into that by using the Eversolo to control the volume while keeping the GS-X at an optimal level would be incredible. Thanks, again!
