On a separate note there is no way in hell that the phones curl into that neat a package with a headband shared with the HD280. For the photo purposes I think the earcups were clamped together.

Actually they do fold up exactly like it is shown in that picture. I just had a pair of HFI-650's and they can do that quite easily.

Really? The HFI-650 I had was much looser, not so much an egg shape.

The pads do close together quite easily BUT the headband has to be extended slightly on L and R sides. The picture has the headband completely closed and the pads completely huddled up - I am also a bit unsure about this.
