Is there a list of manufactures sorted by country?
I know there's Jan Meier and Hegel but thats about it. Any other euro companies that sell dacs?

Hi Stitch,

There are lots of DACs from EU manufacturers that are available from EU sources, so they don't attract extra VAT or import duty if you wish to buy from within the EU.

I'm sure there are lot more than I've listed as my memory is no longer that good; due to age...

Rega (UK)
Naim (UK)
Arcam (UK)
Violectric (DE)
Antelope (Bulgaria)
M2Tech (Italy)
Cambridge Audio (UK)

and many more that are available in the EU, but that are imported, e.g.

Matrix
Audio-Gd
Burson
Red Wine Audio
Calyx
Wyred4Sound
Benchmark

Metrum Acoustics.  Their dacs look like serious bang for buck and are causing quite a stir in their native Netherlands.  Forget about bling cases, their products seem to be all about top notch engineering.  I'm considering one myself, although I live half a world away.

I Came across them yesterday, looks nice. Slick design but no-nonsense. Nice pricing too. And from the netherlands is a added plus and saves shipping costs, its an one hour drive :)
In black it would be a nice aesthetic match for the black GS-1 :)

If you go for a Metrum, I am very interested to hear your impressions.  Cool sig btw, WSB lives on.

About the sig. Not sure what part you refer to
The first line is as far as i know, a quote from Hassan i Sabbah at the end of the 11th century. Not sure about WSB you refering to?

Do you know much the Hegel sells for?

It sounds interesting but (so far) I haven't been able to find a price or a UK dealer.

I've seen elsewhere that you like their DAC, and also Naim as I remember. I'm trying not to audition the latter as I get abusive phone calls from the bank every time I do that...

I can't remember which thread it was but it was either you that posted or someone with the same avatar; it's quite distinctive.

Thanks for this; a very good spot.

It sounds like a good product, and the Quad and Octet have gone on my list for further investigation. They sound like a bargain from what I've read, but I'd never heard of them before seeing your post.
