The new "mach" series look dreadful - so far removed from the design language of the og westones (um2/um3x) - same thing goes for etymotic evo. You guys might want to get the right people in charge again.

I sort of agree with you, they do look a little "cheap" compared to the old W series and other flashy looking multi-coloured offerings, but who cares, when I have them in my ears I can't see them, I can only hear how good they are (I hope I haven't actually heard the MACH yet).

A bonus of the cheap look is no one will mug you for them on the Subway, Metro, Tube. :)

Being relatively new to Westone Audio myself, my only experience is with the W series (that was very recently discontinued) and the Pro X series. Compared to them - I do not think the MACH series is far removed from the design language. My personal opinion, of course.
As for the EVO, I totally agree it is very different from the ER line. However, ER line is NOT replaced by the EVO. Besides, companies need to try new things once in a while

Today, it is time to look at some more unboxing photos... this time, the MACH 70:

Similar, but somewhat larger external box. Inside it, nestled a Pelican case:

The MACH 70 Pelican case is larger than the MACH 60 case:

Mach 70 case on the bottom, MACH 60 on top. I already mentioned in my MACH 60 unboxing that this Pelican case is too large for travel. Well, the MACH 70 is obviously too large, too! Those cases are awesome, protect the MACH IEMs and accessories VERY well, and awesome for storage when not in use, but I wish Westone Audio would include an additional smaller case for travel. The little fabric bag is cute, can be used for travel, but provide no protection...

Here are all the accessories:

In my next post, I will focus on the IEMs themselves and the awesome UltraBaX T2 cable.

MACH 70 unboxing continues...

The shells do not look different from the MACH 60, other than the label of course. The cable, though, is upgraded from the SuperBaX to the UltraBaX.
Personally, I like cables with see-through insulation, so you can see the metal (copper / silver / etc.) strands inside. This cable is obviously made of some materials mix as you can see the strands inside are of several colors. Looks REALLY pretty in-person :)

Again, the other side of the shells looks the same as the MACH 60, and again - only left / right marking is the WA logo color.

My personal take on the cable: looks great, does not tangle too easily, feels great and substantial without being too thick. I only wish it were balanced (with 3.5mm SE adapter). Also, I am not a big fan of the plastic splitter, but that helps keep the cable weight down - do there is a plus there...

Here is a close-up on the shells and the cable, for some extra details:

That concludes the MACH 60 and 70 unboxing. I am going to post some impressions in a few days, when I get a good idea of how they sound...

@Zachik thank you for posting your honest opinions but get to the sound impressions already! Only kidding, take your time. :)

Balanced cables are available from the Linum site for anyone who doesn't know. I purchased a spare 3.5mm cable a while ago and modified it with a multiconnection system, like most IEM cables it is wired with four conductors all the way to the plug. I will have the option to go balanced when I get my hands on the MACH 80.

Photos, or it did not happen...

Yeah, I'd like to see that, too.

For the doubters and disbelievers. :)

This particular interchangeable plug design does create quite a big assembly but I mainly only use it with my Cayin N6ii so its OK-ish.

BTW my MACH 80 should be here tomorrow so I will be trying it with the included cable and this balanced "custom" one as well. Mainly with my N6ii and R01 I think.

Haha. I believed, but was curious to see how it turned out!

Yeah, a little cumbersome, but awesome idea!
I wish Linum / Westome Audio / Etymotic would offer a similar option to purchase, and hopefully using smaller system for easier use with smaller DAPs or sources.
But again, awesome job @MarkParity - I truly am impressed

Awesome @vsg28 - I love the FR graph!!!
I guess no surprise with MACH 70 having the most bass
Interesting to see the identical tuning from say 300 Hz to 1.5 KHz, and then they start being different small hills and dips...
I only wish there was a way to measure detail / resolution! That would have been so cool.
