I'm looking into buying a pair of ER-4Ps, and I notice the cord is rather flimsy looking. While I understand this, the 'phones being as small as they are, accidents do happen, and i was curious whether the cord is easily replaceable, or if it requires some real know-how or shipment back to the manufacturer.

i think you can ship them back for replacement. havent heard of anyone doing it themself. that don wilson guy from ety posts here once in a while. he would know. as long as you keep them clipped and under your shirt or safe in an altoids tin they should hold up just fine though.

said that my case in which the wire cover slipped down to expose the wire under, was one of the only cases that he had seen that happen. otherwise, the wire is really durable...it better be for how expensive the phone is. As far as flimsy goes, they are more stiff and don't bend all that easy. Hope this answers some of your concerns

from what I read on Xin's site, making a new set of ety cables doesn't seem like TOO much work. Seems like you can just slide cables through a breadboard, pop some resistors somewhere in the line, and just heatshrink the SOB to make it a little more resistant to the elements. I think the biggest problem is which pin to stick to positive and which to stick to ground.
